Summary About the Position: You will function as a Public Affairs Specialist supporting the mission of civil works, military construction, and interagency services. This position is located in Los Angeles, CA. Recruitment or Relocation incentive may be authorized if found in the best interest of the Government. Responsibilities The function of the Office is to conduct the public affairs program for the District Engineer. The program includes planning, organizing and directing all public information, command information and community relations activities. Prepares and provides information to the media, the public, and the internal Corps audience. Writes scripts, feature articles and releases for general and specialized news media and internal Corps use. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) OR Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR A combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate level education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for this position. Determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determine your education as a percentage of the education required for the grade the grade level; then add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal 100 percent to qualify for this position. (To compute the percentage, divide you total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and Media Multimedia Technologies Technical Competence Web Technology Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
