UCLA Health Laboratory Assistant II - Hematology/Oncology in Los Angeles, California
Description
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator and
Laboratory Coordinator, the Laboratory Assistant provides technical support to
members of the research team on a number of projects from the lab and to
actively collaborate with the Department of Laboratory Animal Medicine (DLAM) participating
on current Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) Studies. Scientific job duties
include maintaining various human primary cancer cell lines, fluorescent
activated cell sorting (FACS) and molecular cloning for viral-vector generation
for gene transfer experiments. Laboratory duties include maintaining research
records, maintaining laboratory stocks, ordering supplies and consumables for
research projects, overseeing lab functions maintaining optimal compressed gas
levels and proper equipment operation.
Salary Range: $22.02 - $25.90 Hourly
Qualifications
Required:
Strong background in Molecular Biology, Cancer Cell Biology, Immunology and Immunotherapy
Very well organized and highly dependable
Highly motivated to learn new skills and techniques
Basic laboratory skills including organization, preparing common lab reagents, pipetting and working with human primary cancer cells
Capacity of working with minimal supervision
1-year of previous laboratory expertise
Ability to lift/push/pull up to approximately 50 lbs
Computer Proficient and familiar with flow cytometry operating systems
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with campus departments and the public
Current Good Laboratory Practices Standards Compliance
Preferred:
- B.S. degree in the biological sciences
