UCLA Health Laboratory Assistant I (Temporary) - Ophthalmology in Los Angeles, California
Description
Working in the Retinal Development and Repair Laboratory at the Stein Eye Institute, the Lab Assistant will participate in managing transgenic mouse colonies used to study retinal diseases and neuro-repair. The opportunity to make contributions to the research project leading to publication will be provided.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting management of transgenic mouse colonies under the PI and lab manager's guidance, through effective breeding and genotyping.
Carry out mouse tissue dissection, harvesting, fixation and sectioning.
Perform basic molecular and cellular analysis including immunocytochemistry and western blotting.
The skill set required for this position is unique and the candidate will be further trained in aspects of molecular genetics approaches, biochemistry and cell biology.
This is a full-time temporary position scheduled to end 3 months from hire date. May convert to Career.
Salary Range: $19.32-22.37 HourlyQualifications
Required:
Ability to manage mouse genetic crosses and perform PCR genotyping
Solid molecular biology and cell biology background
Ability to use computers and familiar with software including WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, PHOTOSHOP, and SNAPGENE
Good organizational skills and effective in communication with lab members
Able to operate independently after necessary training and follow stepwise protocols provided
Preferred:
