UCLA Health Hospital Laboratory Technician I - Ophthalmology in Los Angeles, California
Description
In this role you will provide technical assistance to the Retina Division at the Jules Stein Eye Institute/Department of Ophthalmology. Major duties include assisting in providing patient care, perform ophthalmic pre-examination work up, preparing and stocking patient examination rooms and perform some clerical work.
Salary Range: $25.62 - $33.84 / hourlyQualifications
Knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology anatomy, physiology as well as disease of the eye and systemic disease that affect the eye.
Skill in acquiring accurate medical history, measuring and recording visual acuity, and tonometry.
Ability to learn state of the art diagnostic equipment.
Knowledge of ophthalmic medications and the proper instillation of these into the eye.
Knowledge of ophthalmic equipment and instrument sterilization techniques.
Ability to organize and prioritize duties to maximize efficiency.
Ability to work under pressure over a busy workload.
Have interpersonal skills to maintain comfortable and cooperative working relationships with physicians, patients and co-workers.
Ability to work as a team member in a busy practice.
Ability to use ophthalmic equipment such as tonopen, slit lamp, VA monitor, auto-refractor, chair and applanation tonometer.
Ability to work with Microsoft Word and Excel software.
Must be able to work with regular, planned hours and days of the week based on the clinical needs of the service with occasional overtime
