UCLA Health Hospital Laboratory Technician I - Component Processing Laboratory in Los Angeles, California
Description
As a Hospital Laboratory Technician of the Component Processing Lab, you will support the manufacture and shipment of blood components (i.e. whole blood, packed red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, apheresis platelets, and pre-pooled cryoprecipitated AHF). Primary duties include:
Organize blood units, maintain an adequate blood supply, place orders, irradiate blood components, package and ship blood components
Perform data entry and operate the computer programs associated with component production, labeling, storage, and shipping
Perform routine equipment and product quality control testing
Maintain Blood Bank records
Note:
The primary schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 12:30pm - 9:00pm, however, you may be assigned to a day shift (7:00am - 3:30pm) once or twice a week.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET)
Computer skills (e.g. typing, internet navigation)
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
Excellent organizational, teamwork and time-management skills
Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as needed
Working knowledge of medical terminology is a plus
