Los Alamos National Laboratory Research and Development Project Management Faciilitator (Science & Technology Base Professional 3) in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

As a facilitator, your focus will be on developing ways to garner and share best practices for managing the Lab's research projects to success and then leading the efforts to implement and sustain the best practices. You will be a key member of a small team whose goal is to develop and maintain a program of knowledge resources, services and tools that help Lab researchers efficiently and effectively manage their R&D projects and allow them to dedicate more of their energy on their R&D work. More specifically, you will identify and prioritize researcher's needs with respect to project knowledge and support; develop and help select program initiatives to pursue; and lead the cross-organizational project team to successfully obtain funding, then design and deliver the promised knowledge resources, services or tools.

What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Program and Project Management: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement institutional programs and lead multiple mid-sized and/or moderately complex projects.

Problem Solving: Advanced experience identifying, researching and analyzing the source of problems and finding effective and innovative solutions that balance between satisfying the customer, maintaining healthy, productive working relationships, fostering institutional values, and adhering to accepted business practices.

Collaboration: Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating with a diverse group of stakeholders, including external interfaces and executive management, that showcases your ability to communicate clearly, actively listen to others, build trust, gain consensus, take responsibility for mistakes, resolve conflicts, and respect the diversity of stakeholders and team members.

Strategic Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills as evidenced by successful proposal development, internal and/or external interactions, seminars, briefings, and presentations; demonstrated experience in developing promotional and marketing communications, brochures, press releases, presentations and web-based materials.

Work style and tools: Demonstrated willingness to accept flexibility in work assignments and a record of dependability and reliability as proven by delivering quality work on time and within budget; hands-on knowledge and experience with standard business applications, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, Outlook Mail and Calendar, Jira, and database tools.

Education/Experience: Position requires a Master's Degree in Business Administration,Information Management, Project Management, or other related degree; and 8 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Desired Qualifications:

  • An understanding of research projects and researchers' project needs

  • Experience developing and delivering learning content, including presenting the content in a "classroom" setting

  • Experience planning and coordinating events

  • Experience analyzing data and providing complete, accurate, relevant summaries of the data, especially survey data

  • Experience developing or supporting computer applications, and supporting the users

Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos, NM. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Note to Applicants: While the posted salary range for this position is broad, it is highly unusual for selected applicants to be hired at the top end of the range and more common for selected candidates to grown into the full salary band over time.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
