Los Alamos National Laboratory Production Control Specialist 2 in Los Alamos, New Mexico

What You Will Do

Detonator Production (DP) is seeking a talented team member to manage the Measuring and Test Equipment and Footprints request system. The successful candidate will inspect and maintain advanced measurement equipment. Perform audits of custody transfer and control data. Perform routine formal inspections of all appropriate equipment. Work with customers to manage all footprint requests. Their success will rely on their ability to effectively team, communicate, organize, plan, and prioritize.

DP Division is the premier Production Agency (PA) assigned to produce WR (War Reserve) detonators for the nation's nuclear stockpile security mission.

The Division is part of LANL's Weapons Production Directorate and is comprised of a team of motivated, highly-skilled technical and operational support staff working in an integrated format. The organization is centered on high-rigor manufacturing operations to produce precision, safe, and reliable WR products. DP partners closely with customers and stakeholders such as NNSA (National Nuclear Security Administration), Design Agencies (LANL, Sandia, and Livermore), and LANL program management orgs to deliver on challenging National security objectives. DP upholds vigorous teamwork, personal integrity, respectful workplace, and continuous improvement in operations, technical excellence, safety and security.

It is important that the selected candidate maintain positive working relationships to successfully work across technical organizations within the Associate Laboratory Directorate of Weapons Production (ALDWP), including manufacturing, engineering, and program, as well as internal and external customers.

What You Need

Minimum job requirements:

Communication: Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written skills, demonstrated by relationships built, briefings, and presentations.

Inventory: Knowledge of inventory management and control practices, including inventory database management and footprints ticket system.

Customer Service : Experience working independently and in team environments, responding to customer requests, and providing responsive, professional service.

Tracking Performance: Experience with project-oriented work environments, tracking progress, and monitoring performance.

Applications: Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity software (Word, Excel, etc).

Efficiently allocate time to complete assigned tasks on schedule.

Strong organizational skills to maintain the progress of multiple concurrent tasks involving large data sets.

Desired qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge of using standard and specialized hand tools, diagnostic tests, and measuring equipment.

Scheduling: Experience working in a production-manufacturing environment with aggressive production schedules and frequently shifting priorities.

Database Systems: Experience using material requirements planning (MRP); or enterprise resource planning (ERP); or work control database systems.

Knowledge of the common laboratory test equipment and its principles of operation.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.

Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
