The Controller Division (CNTL) is seeking to hire highly motivated, energetic, and customer-focused Accounting Manager 4 to lead the Controller Accounting and Financial Reporting (CNTL-AFR) Group. Reporting to the CNTL Division Leader, the Accounting Manager will oversee key financial operations and ensure compliance with internal and external reporting standards. This role includes managing accounting and finance professionals across General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Property Accounting, and Treasury.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee financial transaction processing for internal reporting and DOE/NNSA compliance (STARS and NDAA).
Maintain the Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) Chart of Accounts, cost model, and organizational hierarchy.
Manage Accounts Receivable from non-DOE customers and employee receivables.
Ensure accurate and timely accounting and capitalization for construction projects, capital equipment, property, and specialized inventory.
Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations, GAAP, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
Build strong relationships across all levels of staff and management while collaborating with other Controller groups
Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and strategic policy changes by providing informed recommendations and alternative approaches.
Manage audits and compliance requirements, present findings to senior management, and recommend system and process enhancements.
Lead a large financial organization, prioritizing competing demands, enforcing policies, and meeting critical deadlines-including work outside regular business hours as needed.
Foster team success through leadership, mentorship, and cross-department collaboration, developing and motivating staff while driving operational excellence.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Financial Leadership, Technical Expertise, and Operational Excellence
Proven leadership in managing a large financial organization responsible for Accounting and Financial Reporting.
Extensive experience in personnel management, including policy implementation, employee selection, training, performance evaluation, salary administration, and career development.
Extensive knowledge with accounting and financial processes, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, GAAP, and CAS, with a strong focus on internal controls and process enhancements.
Strong strategic decision-making, prioritization, and organizational skills, with a track record of implementing process improvements.
Extensive experience in establishing internal controls, conducting analytical reviews, and applying accounting and auditing standards.
Demonstrated experience in policy interpretation, compliance, and risk management.
Extensive experience and knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Accounting Systems.
Communication, Organization, and Collaboration
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data clearly.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and adapt to shifting demands while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
Strong relationship-building skills, effectively engaging with customers, staff, management, and stakeholders to provide outstanding service.
A reliable team player who excels in both independent and collaborative work environments.
Adept at fostering effective communication across all organizational levels.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. CPA required.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience using Oracle EBS or a major ERP software in support of business operations
Technical acumen for information technology
Master's degree in accounting or related field.
Work Location: The work location for this position is hybrid and is located in Los Alamos. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite/partially offsite but within 2 hours ground commute of this location. All work locations are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details
Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 (https://directives.nnsa.doe.gov/supplemental-directive/sd-0206-0002) . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
