Job Description
We are seeking 5 Journeyman Welders for the 2nd shift (3pm to 11:30pm) to join our team at a large aerospace company in the Long Beach/Los Alamitos area. Training may occur on the 1st shift (6am to 2:30pm). This role involves assembling and welding aerospace products, specifically flex joints. Overtime opportunities are available.
Responsibilities
Assemble and weld aerospace products (flex joint).
Set up and operate welding machines without technical assistance.
Follow manufacturing processes and procedures per MEP 1000-01.
Perform at an acceptable quality and productivity level on all welding assignments.
Execute tasks as assigned by shop management.
Weld metal thicknesses from 0.010 to 0.250 inches.
Direct and advise major maintenance on welding equipment.
Direct and advise procurement of consumables for welding equipment.
Assist, advise, and share job knowledge with other welders.
Develop new weld schedules for welding machines as required by shop management or manufacturing engineering.
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications necessary to perform welding tasks correctly.
Recognize welding problems, troubleshoot and correct them accordingly.
Identify and correct weld defects according to production standards and/or welding specifications.
Manufacture shop aides to facilitate welding as needed.
Achieve internal certification for stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and aluminum alloy (as necessary) within 90 days.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, FOD-free fashion and adhere to all safety standards.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 5 years' experience in GTAW (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) preferred.
In-depth knowledge of all aspects of GTAW processes.
Ability to weld manually and operate mechanized welding equipment (e.g., circumferential positioners and longitudinal seamer).
Ability to set up GTAW equipment and weld tooling.
Ability to interpret weld symbols, engineering drawings, and specifications necessary to perform welding tasks correctly.
Ability to recognize welding problems, troubleshoot and correct them accordingly.
Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders, and production planning documents.
Ability to use standard manufacturing measuring instruments such as calipers, pin calipers, micrometers, tape measures, scales, height gauges, and depth gauges.
Capability of working with tight tolerances such as + or - 0.002”.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with heliarc welding, fabrication, blueprint reading, sheet metal work, TIG welding, thin-wall and thin gauge tubing, x-ray inspection, titanium, and Inconel.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large aerospace manufacturing company with approximately 500 employees. The position is on the 2nd shift (3pm to 11:30pm), with training potentially on the 1st shift (6am to 2:30pm). The shop maintains high safety standards and a clean, orderly work area.

This is a Permanent position based out of Los Alamitos, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $78520.00 - $78520.00
Union shop so benefits and dues through the Union. 401k, medical and dental available. Will be set up on placements first day with HR team.
Workplace Type
This is a fully onsite position in Los Alamitos,CA.
