Summary: The Warehouse Operations and Logistics Manager is an integral part of our Field Support Team. In this critical role, you will manage approximately 1,400 monthly transactions, including orders, returns, and deliveries, while overseeing a $6.5 million annual budget. The Warehouse Operations and Logistics Manager will be creating and implementing process controls and utilizing our advanced inventory control system, ToolWatch, and will ensure efficient and effective warehouse operations.

The key responsibilities will include managing warehouse operations, maintaining accurate inventory, handling vendor and manufacturer relationships, and overseeing logistics. There is a big focus on ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining safety and compliance, leading a dedicated team, and managing budgets and costs. By working closely with our construction project teams, who are our internal customers, you will support the success of field projects across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Warehouse Operations Management:

  • Develop and implement warehouse policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, and distributing small tools and equipment.

  • Ensure efficient and accurate order fulfillment and timely dispatch of materials to construction sites.

  • Manage the processing of returns and oversee the repair of tools.

  • Develop and implement warehouse policies and procedures for satellite warehouses tailored to the specific needs of each location, within the framework of the primary warehouse policies.

    Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular stock audits.

  • Implement inventory control systems to minimize discrepancies and optimize stock levels.

  • Structure warehouse organization and labeling to facilitate efficient order fulfillment and restocking.

  • Implement and manage the procurement process for restocking on minimum stock levels.

  • Develop and implement inventory control systems to manage tool repair.

    Vendor & Manufacturer Management:

  • Manage Preferred Vendor Relationships to meet performance and pricing surety deliverables.

  • Manage Preferred Vendor Inventories to align secondary inventory coverage across the Preferred Vendor network to meet common surge demands and minimize company investment.

  • Oversee Vendor Managed Inventories to ensure the accuracy of reporting and adjust stock levels and composition to best support company needs.

  • Manage key Manufacturer Relationships to leverage promotions, warranty, and new tool technologies.

    Logistics Management:

  • Manage logistics operations, including transportation and delivery schedules.

  • Negotiate with suppliers and transport companies to secure cost-effective and reliable services.

  • Perform cost analysis on 3rd Party vs company driver deliveries and develop a playbook to optimize based on delivery cost and resource availability.

  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely and accurate delivery.

    Customer Satisfaction:

  • Monitor Customer Satisfaction Surveys, and QC Log, and participate in Craft Council to ensure the needs of construction operations are met.

  • Develop, track, and report out Key Performance Indicators for fulfillment of obligations to Construction Operations.

    Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment.

    Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and train warehouse staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement staff development programs.

  • Foster a professional and collaborative work environment.

    Budget and Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the warehouse budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.

  • Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings.

  • Prepare and present reports on warehouse and logistics performance.

    Relationships:

  • Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly team, and management, including shop and field craft personnel.

  • Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.

    Experience / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse and logistics management, preferably in the construction industry.

  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics principles.

    Necessary Skills:

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Proficiency in warehouse management software and MS Office Suite.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

    Benefits Package:

  • Salary: $90,000-$125,000 annually (DOE)

  • Annual Performance Bonuses.
