Lower Columbia College is looking for an energetic and mechanically inclined Locksmith to join the Campus Services team! The Campus Services team is a diverse group of people with varying backgrounds contributing to the college mission as a team. We strive for collaboration, communication, and the ability to work both as an individual and within a team. The full-time Locksmith position will be responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining and repairing mechanical and electronic locking devices as assigned. The Locksmith will also be responsible for issuing and accounting for all keys for each of the designated areas on campus. A critical piece of this position will be to maintain the database of all keys issued.

This position is classified as a Locksmith under Washington State Classification Specifications. The typical schedule for this position will be Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. The Locksmith will report to the Campus Services Manager. In-person work is required.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Install, maintain and repair door hardware, Allegion locks and hardware such as cylindrical and mortise locks, deadbolts, padlocks, door closers and exit devices.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electronic locks, strikes, door closers, and access control systems using Avigilon Access Control Manager
  • Program staff key cards and modify door schedules and access rights in Avigilon Access Control Manager.
  • Maintain and develop 6-pin Schlage master key system using existing top master key and key biting arrays.
  • Program keypads on restricted doors.
  • Cut/fabricate keys and calibrate key cutting machines regularly.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to doors, locks, exit devices, door closers, and hinges.
  • Maintain detailed key tracking records and files in a database related to keys, keys issued and returned, operating keys for all locks on campus, and keypad lock codes.
  • Bypasses locks using non-destructive and destructive methods.
  • Provide customer service/telephone support and use Gmail to communicate via email.
  • Update the key shop equipment/parts inventory.
  • Requisition of parts and materials as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent (GED). 

Previous experience using access control systems.
