Summary: The IT Business Analyst will facilitate assigned projects by serving as a liaison between users and developers, setting and communicating goals, and evaluating and refining results. Projects currently consist of feature enhancements to our proprietary project controls software, system integrations between Vista by Viewpoint, BIS, Active Directory, Okta, Revit, and Stratus, and reporting via Power BI. We are in the process of working on transitions to the cloud version of Vista, as well as updating some of the other systems. This position will assist in the requirements for that transition. This is a fast-paced environment with small teams focused on short interval cycles to incrementally build upon existing data and leverage the power of information to make more predictive business decisions.

Salary Range: $30-$50 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with business staff to thoroughly understand the needs to be supported by information systems and technology

  • Researches and analyzes the nature, effect, and results of system difficulties

  • Responds to inquiries and provides advice to the stakeholders regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs

  • Collaborates with Manager to finalize scope and deliverables collected from business stakeholders to ensure continuity of company data strategies

  • Develops and communicates detailed specifications for development and implementation

  • Facilitates team development and updates of project schedule, ensuring that team members understand their scope, work efforts, and deliverable dates

  • Facilitates team estimates for changes to the project inclusive of impact on the development schedule

  • Produces reports, timelines, and graphics to communicate expectations and progress to management, stakeholders, and other relevant parties.

  • Maintains and ensures proper documentation, and coordinates or performs testing of system modifications

  • Satisfies data sampling, project analysis, testing verification, and other user requests from existing company databases

  • Develops, provides, or coordinates system training, materials, and other educational tools

    Relationships:

  • Maintain and foster proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly team, management, operations team, and the crafts, including shop and field craft personnel, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting IT, and all project teams.

    Experience / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

    Necessary Skills:

  • Quick learner with a creative approach to problem-solving

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Highly organized with keen attention to detail

  • Strong management abilities, including leadership, facilitation, motivation, and organization

  • Proficient in SQL

  • Experience with Power BI is a plus

  • Familiarity with the Vista by Viewpoint database and querying capabilities is a plus

  • Collaborative team player

    Physical Requirements:

    This office position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Candidates must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching are necessary. The role also requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling office equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
