Micron has large SSD development groups around the globe focused on SSD Product Development and Validation. We are looking for candidates with an advanced understanding of SSD design, FW development, and validation to join a specialized team responsible for identifying new aggressive methods of SSD testing. This position will be in Longmont, CO, and is chartered with understanding Micron’s SSD architecture, considering new test methodologies, and developing out-of-the-box tests to be used globally in all validation teams.

Our Opportunity Summary

This role will provide technical guidance to Micron’s global SSD test teams on how to set up infrastructure to adequately validate product capabilities and features and to improve testing methodologies. As a member of the Validation Architecture team, you will analyze product requirements for best-in-class infrastructure and new test methodologies, and closely follow industry technology trends, particularly in the areas of SSD next-generation features. You will also be called on to use your expertise in the areas of NVMe, PCIe, industry trends in performance measurements, NAND trends, debugging skills, coding practices, and analyzer techniques. There will be times when you will perform failure analysis and issue replication to identify special fail cases. You must be able to understand basic coding techniques and proper embedded FW design.

What’s Encouraged Daily

  • Lead Validation Architect on program to define infrastructure needs for global Validation and Product Development teams

  • Deliver Validation Infrastructure plans and readiness to Engineering Commitment Readiness reviews at the program Plan of Record milestone

  • Drive Customer and Industry Requirements against Test Case Traceability across all Validation teams

  • Identify and define new ways to test Micron’s SSDs to achieve “Best-In-Class” quality

  • Prototype development of proposed test frameworks and/or solutions

  • Analyze test architecture and test design; recommend improvements and/or enhancements

  • Evaluate automation infrastructure for efficiency improvements

  • Define a common infrastructure base for global teams to adhere to on a program basis

  • System-level and drive-level debugging using software programs, oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, and other diagnostic tools

  • Install, modify, and debug issues in Windows and Linux environments

  • Create and drive policies across test teams by interfacing/collaborating with other product development team

Support Internal/External Customers:

  • Provide technical support (e.g., failure analysis, questions, etc.) to internal or external customers

  • Provide technical knowledge and feedback to PCIe, NVME, and TCG specifications

  • Represent Micron in standards bodies

How to Qualify

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • A deep understanding of SSD performance metrics and industry expectations is required

  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent experience

  • Deep knowledge or experience using protocol analyzers

  • Deep knowledge of SSD design and FW development

  • Solid understanding of Python and C/C++ Understanding or experience with PCIe and NVMe protocols. Understanding of SATA and SAS is a plus.

  • Understanding of Agile and test-driven development

  • Knowledge or experience with Linux and Windows system configuration

  • Highly effective, strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Adaptable to a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with dynamic demands

The US base salary range that Micron Technology estimates it could pay for this full-time position is:

$165,000.00 - $280,000.00

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries of the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, tenure and relevant education or training.
