Schwab’s Risk & Regulatory Learning Team is a team of learning professionals with the power to transform employee behaviors and mindsets. The goal of our team is to connect employees’ day-to-day risk management practices back to Schwab’s mission of “Seeing Through Clients’ Eyes.”

As a Senior Instructional Designer (Sr. Manager), you are a proactive team partner who analyzes, designs, develops, and maintains learning solutions that support organizational goals and objectives. Your work will touch employees across the Company.

The Risk & Regulatory Learning Team aspires to take a learner-centered approach to our work. We want to make learning about Risk Management and Compliance topics easy, and dare we say engaging.

What you're good at

  • Work with business partners and internal consultants to lead through the ADDIE model with an emphasis on Analysis, Design and Development phases

  • Conduct analysis to identify key behaviors and mindsets that will mature our risk management capabilities, and create meaningful learning experiences

  • Maintain a strong learner focus by seeking opportunities to gather learner inputs, prototype and share back findings that influence project partners

  • Generate a design strategy that addresses: Who, Why, What, When, Where, and How

  • Gain agreement on your proposed design strategy, defining design approach and deliverables that will make up the learning experiences you create

  • Design and develop effective learning experiences

  • Be the confident design expert that leads the project team through the process

  • Lead effective project meetings, and working sessions that get results by setting meeting goals, demonstrating superior verbal communication, active listening, planning, and organizational skills

  • Create your project plan, and manage project work, including feedback and review cycles to successfully meet milestones and implementation deadlines

  • Build and sustain collaborative relationships with partners and colleagues

  • Write compelling training materials. Organize and communicate complex information in easy-to-understand language

  • Create and use visuals and multimedia interactions that enhance the learning experience and facilitate learning transfer through the application of visual and instructional design principles

  • Ensure the learning solutions you create follow accessibility guidelines, so that all employees can participate

  • Build assessments using best instructional practices

  • Articulate design needs, project risks, and recommendations when scope changes, or challenges surface

  • Deliver quality products, adhering to team standards and processes

What you have

To ensure that we fulfill our promise of “challenging the status quo,” this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have.

In addition to being able to do the above, you will have the following experiences and skills:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or a related field from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 6-10 years in creating blended learning experiences

  • Mastery in graphic design, video, audio, and graphic creation

  • Established understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)

  • Mastery of Learning Theory

  • Ability to write training content in plain, digestible language

  • Strong writing editorial skills

  • Mastery in graphic design, video, audio, and graphic creation

  • Ability to learn changing technologies quickly, including department’s Content Management System, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent time management and project management skills, managing multiple projects at one time

  • Ability to manage large, high complexity projects and multiple projects with ease

  • Ability to partner with wide variety of partners and project teams

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, influence others, and execute in a customer-centric manner

  • Unwavering attention to detail and organization

  • Self-leadership

CO Salary Range: USD $73,100 - $120,500 / Year
