What Is the Opportunity?

You will proactively lead or contribute to operational effectiveness and continuous improvement projects or initiatives across TRV Europe with the customer experience in mind. You will focus on identifying opportunities to improve productivity and decrease costs whilst improving accuracy and timeliness. A key part of your role will be working to change operating behaviours and improve control and oversight of business processes utilising your experience in leading and managing business change. You will also be responsible for the effective management of key business stakeholders at all levels within the business. You will provide 'lean thinking' guidance and process improvement technical support to all business areas within TRV Europe as required. As part of the Operational Effectiveness team, you will participate in strategic initiatives that result in corporate progress in areas including (but not limited to), cost effectiveness, streamlining processes, technological advancements, improved quality and revenue generation, new products, and distribution. You will also be critical to creating a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, when leading Operations Effectiveness owned process improvement projects you will use your project management skillset to produce and manage accurate project plans to ensure timely and effective delivery of process improvement to business requirements ensuring the required project governance is adhered to.

What Will You Do?

  • Build strong partnerships with business colleagues at all levels across Europe. This will be achieved by providing business process improvement expertise aimed at improving overall business performance by identifying impediments to realising effective, efficient operations and business results. Changes in business processes and organisational behaviours will have a positive impact on the bottom line and customer experience.

  • Review 'As Is' processes and make cost effective recommendations for future state to senior management ensuring you have their sponsorship and support to effectively deliver the required change.

  • Own and lead the subsequent implementation efforts to achieve the identified benefits using relevant project and change management techniques, ensuring that your stakeholders and senior management are kept informed appropriately. You may lead project teams where the improvement initiative is owned by Operational Effectiveness.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement meetings, engage, and influence senior leaders and stakeholders by sharing your expertise of lean process improvement techniques.

  • Work closely with PMO, other SP&E colleagues and business partners, actively participating in strategic organisational initiatives which impact on operational effectiveness.

  • Actively participate in Process improvement studies as an occasional project leader or individual contributor assuming responsibility for less complete studies which potentially have significant impact on the operation of a business unit.

  • As part of the TRV Europe Operations organisation, be responsible for the effective delivery and oversight of improvements to operational processes that support the European Business functions, leveraging the resources of the broader Travelers operations organisation where appropriate to achieve efficiencies and ensure consistency in delivery of service.

  • Coach, mentor and develop project team members and business leaders on continuous improvement, process optimisation and effectiveness.

  • Oversee the business process function by implementing recommendations which result in significant improvements in operational performance through re-designed workflows, productive behaviours, and effective use of technology.

  • Participate in various projects and initiatives as required by the Head of Operations, Europe.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • General knowledge of the insurance industry and its core business functions

  • University degree

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified or above

  • Have previously successfully delivered multiple process improvement projects and initiatives

  • Consistently seek out market insight and use your knowledge to assist in the process improvements for all business functions

  • Be a strategic/creative thinker

  • Have good stakeholder management and communication skills

  • Be able to navigate complex matrix organisations, working collaboratively with other business functions

  • Demonstrate the operational skills necessary to deliver established business plans

  • Be highly organised, delivery focused and be able to work under your own initiative.

What is a Must Have?

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or other recognised Lean qualification trained and proven experience of leading multiple process improvement reviews.

  • Proven experience of leading change and influencing key stakeholders and business leaders.

  • Proven experience of leading and managing process improvement projects through the project management lifecycle.
