About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

Independent Nuclear Assurance (INA), a function within the Safety, Security and Assurance Directorate (SS&A), is the internal regulator for the SZC project. INA independently assesses and monitors all safety related aspects of the SZC project in line with national and international best practice, and with a focus on improvement and maintaining strong nuclear safety performance.

The Independent Technical Assessment (ITA) team of the INA function provides independent review, assessment and challenge of safety case submissions, and other technical and design deliverables, to provide assurance that the final design meets the necessary nuclear safety (and other safety) standards. The team represent and communicate the ITA view to key stakeholders including the UK Nuclear Regulators (ONR and EA).

  • Support broader INA remit in accordance with the SZC INA Mandate:

  • Independent Assurance (Functional oversight) Team in support of function-wide assessments

  • The Independent Site Inspection Team for conducting site surveillances.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Experience in nuclear or other high hazard / regulated industry.

  • Experience in highly complex / highly technical projects, understanding of the interfaces across the many contributors that such projects demand.

  • Experience in the area of Civil / Structural engineering and the application to nuclear safety cases and design.

  • Proven track record in building relationships and influencing senior stakeholders and Regulators.

  • Ability to influence at all levels within a diverse project organisation.

  • Detailed knowledge of relevant good practice and codes/standards in areas of technical specialism.

  • Strong knowledge of modern standard safety cases and UK Regulatory standards and expectations.

  • Ability to innovate, think laterally and implement processes with an engaged and thinking approach.
