Investment Management – International Small & Mid Cap Team Equity Analyst – VP/ED

Positioned within Eaton Vance Equity, a group of 40 equity investment professionals and located between London and Boston, the International Small & Mid Cap Equity Team (developed markets ex-US) is comprised of seven experienced sector-based investors with a multi-year track record of alpha generation and a significant runway to grow the business.

We are looking to add an equity analyst to the team. Based out of London, the analyst will be expected to evaluate and recommend public equity investment opportunities across the international small & mid cap universe (MSCI World Ex. US Small Cap Index, MSCI EAFE SMID Cap Index). The sector responsibility will be diverse and may include Real Estate, Materials, Energy and Utility sectors. It is not a pre-requisite for this individual to have experience in these sectors.

We are seeking an equity analyst with the right skills, values, and mindset. This individual must display the personality and work ethos to fit the following traits: • Be passionate about investing, especially small & mid cap equity investing. • A self-starter, capable of working independently. • Strong team player that can fit well with our unique team culture, which is grounded in accountability, collaboration and debate with other team members. We have a differentiated framework designed to do this. • Strong foundation of analytical skills, including financial modelling, accounting, valuation and understanding of financial report & accounts. • Good presentation skills. An ability to debate and recognize flaws in oneself are essential.

Responsibilities

• Generate strong and consistent alpha, applying a bottom-up, fundamental investment process • Initiate and sustain high-quality fundamental equity analysis of publicly traded securities • Generate and proactively communicate investment recommendations on individual securities, as well as provide views on the attractiveness of relevant industries • Develop proprietary investment insights from non-traditional data sources. In particular, an interest in ESG and Responsible Investing are important. The individual will need to analyse financially material ESG and collaborate with colleagues at Calvert • Diligently document all recommendations and updates, including price targets • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with portfolio manager and analysts on the other equity and fixed income teams in order to facilitate the sharing and debate of relevant information and investment teams • Proactively participate & collaborate in all team meetings, taking a holistic view of portfolios, and actively participating in debate of securities across all sectors

What we’re looking for:

· CFA charterholder

· Significant buy-side investment experience

· Relevant investment experience, preferably within sectors such as Real Estate, Energy, Materials, and Utilities, and also within regions/countries of the small & mid-cap universe relevant to this role (MSCI World Ex. US Small Cap Index)

· Consistently strong alpha generator with demonstrable track record.

· Strong motivation to join a team of experienced investment professionals who work in a highly collaborative manner.

· Clear analytical and decision making skills in the field of equity analysis, including an ability to build robust financial models in a timely manner.

· Superior understanding of securities analysis, valuation methods, qualitative and quantitative techniques.

· Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential.

· Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team which includes the ability to be flexible and adaptable.

This role is deemed as a Certified role and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
