IED is a global leader in the origination, distribution and trading of equity, equity-linked securities and equity-derivatives. The Firm’s equity Sales & Trading operations provide liquidity, distribute content, and create product solutions to help our diverse global client base.

About the team – Business Control Unit (BCU)

The BCU team is a specialist front office risk management team within IED, which partners with IED Management and business stakeholders to shape and execute the Division’s business strategy. The team focuses on managing daily risks impacting various IED activities including Trading & Execution, Product Manufacturing, Sales & Onboarding. The team is central in driving new business initiatives, in line with the division’s business plans.

The BCU team is also responsible for regulatory implementation across the IED division.

What will you be doing?

The EMEA IED BCU team is looking for a self-starting, proactive Associate with the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have a solid background in equities, understanding of equity derivatives will be a plus. Candidates should be able to apply sound judgment to business opportunities.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Trading risk management (non-market risk) of EMEA IED business and product lines with a focus on derivatives. • Partnering with global counterparts and functional areas to roll out new business initiatives in a risk-controlled manner. • Reviewing equity transactions and business initiatives. • Working with desk heads and trading teams to ensure effective governance and control of the IED businesses. • Co-ordinating governance, control, and approval forums. • Advising members of IED on management of non-market risks. • Leading deep-dive business reviews to proactively identify risk issues. • Design and implementation of robust control solutions. • Liaising with business support colleagues in areas such as Operations, Technology, Legal and Compliance as required. • Develop and implement improvements to existing control frameworks using innovative solutions (e.g., AI/ML techniques). #LI-KF1

What we’re looking for:

• A background demonstrating strong analytical critical thinking skills with a solution driven mindsetwith the ability to communicate advanced concepts in a concise and logical way, strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and writing). • Strong organisational skills, self-motivated and the ability to prioritise effectively. • A solid knowledge of equities, familiarity with equity derivatives is a plus. • Ability to co-ordinate across the broader firm to deliver a stronger control framework. • Experience with Python and interest applying a systems-based approach to problem solving preferred. • Degree in STEM degree/background preferred.
