The Role

The Aerospace segment is key growth opportunity for WTW Aerospace. We have a solid core book of business, largely outside North America, but lag behind a key competitor who has the dominant market share. WTW is looking to challenge the status quo and grow dramatically in this area taking advantage of recent market moves & trends. We have developed a fantastic platform for growth but need to develop our brand, value proposition and team to capitalise on the opportunity and facilitate the next steps. Our vision is to double our market share over a 5 year period and we are in the market to hire a significant player in this segment with a proven Aerospace leadership track record to design, create and deliver this vision. Given our Global line of business and investment commitment, the candidate will have a unique opportunity to lead an exciting project and lead the Global team of Aerospace associates. The candidate will engage with all stakeholders around the group to assess our current market position, talent and strategy and will then be expected to design a plan and execute.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Responsible for Global Aerospace practice P&L

  • Responsible for delivery of plan and milestones agreed with BU leader

  • Deliver on growth objectives for Aerospace

Principal Duties/Responsibilities

People Management

  • Responsible for leading, managing, motivating and developing the skills, competencies and knowledge of team members in line with Group HR policies and procedures, including overseeing and managing of staff appraisals and objective setting

  • Maintain staff competence by ensuring that staff skills and/or knowledge gaps are met with appropriate training and development so they are able to perform to their maximum capability and fulfil their potential and the requirements of the business

  • Establish an environment that promotes respect for the individual employee and adheres to the policies and guidelines of the company

  • Work with HR to recruit staff with the correct level of skills and competencies, adhering to the company’s recruitment procedures and best practices

  • Manage the performance of your team ensuring staff have clear pre-set objectives and get regular feedback on their performance, ensure performance appraisals are conducted in line with the firms’ standards

  • Provide leadership, direction, advice and guidance to the team maintaining high levels of integrity, motivation and morale

  • To put the interests of clients and the integrity of the market at the heart of the way you do business

Proposition Management

  • Leveraging industry insight, contribute to the development of the proposition for the WTW Aerospace business and other adjacent lines of business where appropriate

  • Build service offering in conjunction with other teams within WTW.

  • Maintain and develop knowledge of defined ‘best in class’ Aerospace Industry Practice through maintaining good working relationships across Industry Practice Group teams, regional teams and marketing leaders.

  • Share best practice with other Practice Leaders and Marketing Leaders

  • Identify and manage key external and internal stakeholders (incl business developers, service teams, professional bodies, trade press) in the promotion and delivery of the sector specific plans;

Growth and Business Development

  • Engage in joint planning exercises and produce a Global prospect list and agree prioritisation with Regional Directors & Geography stakeholders.

  • Work with leaders of Regions, Specialisms and Marketing to build and deliver an Industry Practice specific client engagement and delivery plan for the practice.

  • Attend prospect and new client meetings as appropriate.

  • Work with the Regional Leaders & Geography stakeholders to define and establish the retention and sales strategies for each area and support client meetings as appropriate.

  • Personally lead the management of a number of clients

  • Personally lead the sales pitches to a number of prospects per annum

Operational Delivery

  • Develop Industry Practice capability within Regional Offices as required – share knowledge and develop training / communication plans.


  • Speak at Thought Leaderships events/seminars and ensure the Industry Practice expertise is captured within the Expertise Portal and on WTW.com

  • Any other duties commensurate with position or level of responsibility

  • Maintain relevant qualifications required for the role

The Requirements


Proven track record of delivering excellent levels of client service;

Good understanding of company strategy, operating environment and business objectives

Strong awareness of internal politics with the ability to read and assess situations to identify different agendas and adapt approach accordingly

Appropriate Aerospace Leadership experience and status

Preferably with professional qualifications of ACII or similar
