Meta Gameplay Software Engineer - Animation - Reality Labs (Avatars) in London, United Kingdom

As a Software Engineer in Reality Labs (Avatars) team at Meta, you can help push the boundaries of how people represent themselves and work, play and connect. Connecting with others is at the heart of the metaverse, and we're the people helping to define what that means. The ideal candidate is a software engineer with experience in VR, simulation, visualisation or a creative industry (e.g. Video Game, Film VFX). You will bring together innovative design with new technologies (related to 3D applications and games). You have a passion for real-time 3D applications, virtual or augmented reality and enjoy rapid iterative development for products or research.

Required Skills:

Gameplay Software Engineer - Animation - Reality Labs (Avatars) Responsibilities:

  1. Build tech, tools and pipelines for generating very high quality digital representations of people

  2. Architect and implement efficient and reusable systems that drive animation in complex real-time cross-platform applications

  3. Set a high-quality bar to make our technology easy and delightful for developers to use

  4. Write high-quality, well optimized, and maintainable code

  5. Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, designers, artists, and user researchers to deliver innovative mixed reality and flat-screen products

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  2. 2+ years of experience with C++

  3. 2+ years of experience as an engineer building and shipping features within 3D real-time interactive engines (Unity 3D, Unreal, or other/proprietary)

  4. 2+ years of object-oriented and component-based design experience

  5. Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with character animation and behavior technology and pipelines

  2. Strong understanding of 3D math and linear algebra

  3. Understanding of and experience with video game physics

  4. Experience with C# or similar programming languages

  5. Experience delivering AAA Games

  6. Experience with development for virtual reality (Rift, Quest, VIVE, Gear VR, etc.)

  7. Experience working across a mixed technology stack that includes C/C++ components

  8. Experience with performance optimization of real-time applications

  9. Strong understanding and sense of empathy for VR users and developers
