Your team: This role sits within The Sun Customer Revenue Team. Whilst physical newspapers are still a key part of our business, driving digital subscriptions and audiences will be the key to future success. The customer is at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to creating long term loyal customers through driving engagement, improving customer experience and creating enhanced products that meet our customers evolving needs.
Your role: As the Customer Marketing Director, you will be responsible for leading and executing our marketing strategy with a key focus on driving customer loyalty and revenue. This role will be responsible for identifying customer growth opportunities, driving customer acquisition, and maximising brand presence through innovative and performance-driven marketing initiatives. This role requires an innovative and strategic thinker to implement strategies to drive customer acquisition, retention and engagement.
Day to day you will:
Lead, and inspire the marketing and CRM team. Creating a culture of collaboration and innovation.
Lead the customer lifecycle across our products. Implement and execute strategies to increase loyalty and engagement and reduce churn.
Develop and execute a robust, data-driven marketing strategy that aligns with business growth goals.
Set clear goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) for all marketing functions, ensuring alignment with the broader company objectives.
Work closely with the Data Director on The Sun to implement sophisticated analytics and tracking across digital channels to ensure transparency in performance and make data-driven decisions for optimisation.
Identify opportunities for growth, with particular focus on market penetration strategies, customer segmentation and pricing strategies.
Analyse CRM data to inform strategy, measure success, and identify areas for improvement.
Manage the marketing budget ensuring effective allocation of resources to deliver against business objectives.
Act as a spokesperson for the company, representing The Sun at industry events when required.
What we’re looking for from you:
An outstanding collaborator who is able to work across multiple departments.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a multi-disciplinary team
Strong customer focus with expertise in managing the customer lifecycle.
Digital marketing expert with experience of PPC and SEO
Experience in a subscription or a membership business is essential.
A data-driven approach with experience in using analytics tools to measure and optimise campaign performance.
Experience in creating and utilising detailed personas from both 2P and 1P data for targeted marketing and communication purposes.
Keen interest in the media/news sector and strong empathy with the journalism mission.
