Ankura Billing Specialist, Ankura Business Service Finances in London, United Kingdom

We are seeking an experienced international Billing Specialist to join our UK Finance.This is a key role and will involve full ownership and management of all billing activities for multiple countries. Operating in a fast-paced culture, you will be a self-starter with superior organisational skills with a trusted business partner approach. You will be responsible for the day to day operations and ensuring accurate and timely processing of billing activities. And working closely with project managers internationally to perform all billing and maintain accurate work in progressThis is a fantastic opportunity to work for a successful and growing organisation with a great reputation. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely preparation and dispatch of invoices and credit notes including:

  • Time and cost entry amendments in billing system on instruction from project managers; enter rate changes, move incorrectly posted timecards, amend timecard narratives, update project and client information etc.

  • Enter subcontractor’s mark-up and other accrual information into billing system and ensure Work in Progress generated by Accounts Payables entries is correctly accounted for

  • Ensure internal control compliance by obtaining correct approvals for invoices, write‐offs and write‐ups, and by

  • Save all invoice backup and approval documents to shared drive

  • Implementing complex billing arrangements

  • Ensuring compliance with local sales tax regulations

  • Review contract/agreements and identify pertinent terms and issues to provide appropriate accounting guidance and propose solutions within Company’s revenue recognition policy

  • Prepare summaries on projects upon request received from management

  • Respond to queries from clients, practices and others in Finance team, typically sending copy invoices, producing project financial information, drafting reports etc

  • Follow up approvals with project managers via telephone, email or in person to ensure billing targets or queries are resolved are met, escalating to management when necessary

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with the Practice Groups

  • Assist with internal and external audits and provide information when requested

Qualifications

  • Significant billing experience gained within a professional service organisation

  • Knowledge of EMEA Billing specifically Germany, India and UK would be advantageous

  • Experience of time and expenses billing software: Workday advantageous

  • Experience in dealing with multi-currency transactions

  • Experience of working across different time zones effectively

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle a high volume of bills per month.

  • In addition to English, fluency in German would be advantageous

  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of multiple concurrent and diversified tasks, while working with various deadlines

  • Proficiency in Advanced level in Excel and Word

  • Numerate with a keen eye for detail

  • Strong time management, organised approach to work and ability to prioritise tasks

  • Good communication skills and professional attitude

  • Team player, with an increase ability to interact effectively and act as a business partner with other departments including Project teams, Legal Counsel, People, Finance and the business

  • Ability to solve problems before escalating

  • Frequently communicates with clients and co-workers and must be able to share information effectively

  • Proactive, self-starter with a “we can do” attitude and takes initiative

  • Willingness to assist with other ad hoc tasks when appropriate
