Overview The Department of Veterinary Clinical and Life Sciences (VCLS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for a tenure-track position, assistant or associate professor based on qualifications/experience, as an Infectious Disease Epidemiologist with the assignment of 60% research, 35% teaching, and 5% service. This is a tenure-track position with either a fiscal-year (FY), 12-month appointment with a reduced FTE, or an Academic Year (9-month) with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2025. Responsibilities

  • Research (60%)
  • Develop and lead an innovative, externally funded research program in infectious disease epidemiology.
  • Conduct high-impact research that addresses critical issues in veterinary medicine and public health.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within the university and with external partners.
  • Publish findings in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Teaching (35%)
  • Develop and teach professional and graduate courses in epidemiology and within selected CVM courses where reinforcement of epidemiology principles is relevant.
  • Mentor and supervise students (graduate, professional, and undergraduate), postdoctoral fellows, and research staff.
  • Incorporate current research findings and methodologies into teaching materials.
  • Service (5%)
  • Participate in college and university committees.
  • Engage in professional service activities, including reviewing manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Contribute to community outreach and public engagement activities.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in epidemiology, infectious diseases, veterinary medicine, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to develop a well-funded research program.
