Overview Under the direction of the After School Club Director of Edith Bowen Laboratory School, the Coordinator is responsible to carry out the staff daily activities, discipline, program procedures and policies, and any other program needs. The Coordinator should be aware and carry out the principal's academic desires as it relates to response to interventions and children's needs. The Coordinator should direct and lead with positive leadership characteristics with educators, principals and site staff.
The hours vary for this position may include Monday-Thursday 2:00-6:00pm, Friday 12:00-6:00pm. Total hours are 15-20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Carry out daily staff activities, discipline, program procedures, policies, and any other program needs in collaboration with the Site Director.
- Implement the principal's academic goals, especially concerning response to interventions and student needs.
- Lead educators, principals, and site staff with positive leadership qualities.
- Prepare and manage student attendance and activity reports as required by the district.
- Ensure all paperwork for participating students is completed and maintain an up-to-date emergency contact list.
- Inform the Director of any major behavioral issues.
- Collaborate with the Site Director to address events or situations that may impact the After School Program and its students.
- Facilitate a close relationship with the larger USU campus for weekly field experiences.
- Build relationships with parents and maintain familiarity with them.
- Assist in planning and scheduling lessons and activities for AmericaReads and AmeriCorps interns, delegating tasks with their input.
- Collect monthly planners from staff to create a lesson outline and a shopping list for the Director.
- Support the Project Director in planning monthly meetings and activities for staff.
- Post daily and monthly schedules and provide time for AmericaReads training.
- Ensure all incidents and accidents are reported to the Project Director within 6 hours.
- Select 8 books and their movie adaptations, as well as additional movies for early dismissal days.
- Advise interns and volunteers on coordinating mental and physical activities for Fun Friday clubs.
- Manage the "Spotlight" form, maintain the "3 Good Things" journal, track leadership awards, and update the daily club board.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- Experience working with children
- Punctuality
- Attentive Participation
Ability to maintain confidentiality Preferred Requirements:
Associates Degree in Education or related field
