POSITION PURPOSE

The Integrity & Compliance Program is Trinity Health's system-wide ethics and compliance program. The Integrity & Compliance Program demonstrates Trinity Health's commitment to ensuring its operations are conducted in a manner consistent with the Mission and Core Values, in accordance with the highest standards of ethical and professional behavior, and in compliance with all laws and regulations that apply to our health care ministry.

This position is responsible for Integrity & Compliance Program implementation, oversight and leadership across multiple Health Ministries in a service area region. The position works with other members of the leadership team to ensure the Integrity & Compliance Program is effectively designed and operating in accordance with Health Ministry (HM) and Trinity Health policies and program standards. This position is responsible for promoting the principles and objectives of the Integrity & Compliance Program to colleagues, management, governance and business partners.

This position is remote.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leads strategy development and Integrity & Compliance Program operations for multiple HM in a service area. Leads and develops the HM Integrity & Compliance colleagues for multiple ministries, providing guidance, allocating work plan assignments and supporting colleague professional development and growth. Oversees the Integrity & Compliance Committee established to support the operations of Integrity & Compliance Program at multiple HMs. Ensures the Integrity & Compliance Committee meets regularly with appropriate representation and participation of management. Plans and implements the delivery of Integrity & Compliance Program and supporting resources in a shared services model, aligned with resources and support provided through Trinity Health's system-wide Integrity and Compliance Program and Centers of Expertise.

Works in partnership with leadership to ensure HM develops and maintains policies and procedures addressing key areas of legal, regulatory or other compliance risks impacting operations. Promotes continuous awareness and understanding of the Integrity & Compliance Program, the Code of Conduct, and Trinity Health's commitment to follow all laws and regulations through ongoing communication and awareness activities within operating locations. Ensures the timely investigation and effective follow-up on issues reported through the Trinity Health Integrity & Compliance Line or through other means, including reports of potential violations of laws, regulations, policies in coordination with HM leadership and Trinity Health resources, as appropriate. Leads the performance of periodic risk assessments to identify and assess potential areas of legal, regulatory and business ethics risks impacting operations.

Works with leadership and Trinity Health's Integrity & Audit Services department to establish auditing and monitoring programs for operations designed to continuously assess compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Establishes processes to oversee and monitor corrective actions taken in response to compliance matters identified through internal and external audits, regulatory investigations and internal monitoring activities. Coordinates with human resources to ensure appropriate integration of the Integrity & Compliance Program with HM's performance management processes. Ensures leaders are kept up to date concerning significant activities of the Integrity & Compliance Program, including the status of investigations, significant findings from auditing and monitoring activities, and other issues requiring senior management attention and support for corrective actions.

Provides periodic reports to the Board of Directors (or delegated committee of the board) on the operations of Integrity & Compliance Program, including the status of any significant legal, regulatory or other compliance matters. Promptly notifies general counsel and the Trinity Health System Integrity & Compliance Officer and General Counsel's Office of significant legal and regulatory matters impacting HMs in the assigned Service Area. Works with Trinity Health System Office Compliance-Center of Expertise to ensure effective conflicts of interest policies and processes for governance and senior management have been established.

Provides strategic and maturity growth input and feedback on the design, operation and ongoing effectiveness of Trinity Health's Integrity & Compliance Program. Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision and Values in behaviors, practices and decisions. Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, the Trinity Health Integrity and Compliance Program and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. Serves as a member on the regional executive leadership team and contribute to overall strategy and success of the region.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum four-year undergraduate degree in health care clinical field, law, fund development, fundraising, business administration or a health care operations field of study evidencing significant knowledge and understanding of the laws and regulations impacting health care organizations.

A graduate degree and certification in health care compliance (CHC, CHCR, CHPC) is strongly preferred. Minimum ten (10) years of progressive management experience working with provider organizations through employment, consulting, advisory, audit or other relevant experience.

Senior leadership experience in fundraising and /or grants management in a healthcare, higher education, philanthropic, or other non-profit setting is required. Significant experience in addressing regulatory compliance issues, including understanding of the health care industry regulatory environment, and laws and regulations pertaining to participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Relevant experience in the development, implementation, and operation of regulatory compliance programs in health care provider organizations. Ability to work in a dynamic, complex matrix reporting environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be effective in presenting information to different audiences including senior management, governance, and colleagues. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to meet deadlines and achieve quality results.

Strong interpersonal, consultative and relationship building skills in order to initiate and develop productive working partnerships with all levels of management/leadership and staff along with effective vendor interface/management experience.

Ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders across the system and develop collaborative relationships.

Strong proficiency in applying project management, change management, process improvement methodologies and/or executive coaching in a complex enterprise to achieve desired objectives.

Ability to manage project work plans to the detailed task level. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Product Suite, (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio).

Strong management skills with proven ability to manage and motivate people and teams. Ability to operate in a self-directed manner under frequently changing structures and requirements and work priorities.

Motivated by difficult assignments and new challenges as demonstrated by willingness to learn new things and assumption of tasks beyond current skill levels.

Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Trinity Health.
