Responsibilities

Provides compassionate, supportive quality care to patients, families, caregivers and staff. CHI St. Luke's has the responsibility to treat those seeking care in a way that reverences human dignity. We are called to provide holistic care, an approach not limited to illness or ailment. Thus, we embrace the physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions of the human person. Spiritual care Has a full range of pastoral outreaches and responses, such as offering a listening presence, conducting spiritual assessments, and providing support in the face of powerlessness and pain from a new diagnosis, addressing grief and loss, as well as ensuring a ministry of prayer, ritual and sacraments. Chaplains also exhibit an educational component to their roles, including consultation and didactic input as a member of an multidisciplinary team.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide leadership in implementing programs sponsored by hospital departments, e.g. NEO, Adult Formation, etc.

  2. Provide spiritual assessment and pastoral care in assigned areas to patients, families and staff

  3. Interact with the patient care teams on assigned units assigned and other areas of responsibility. Communicate relevant patient information to other team members through appropriate use of charting. Respect patient confidentiality

  4. Promote and participate in an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care.

  5. Design and conduct a variety of spiritual experiences throughout the hospital and opportunities for multi-faith prayer, worship and rituals.

  6. Support the work of the System in the greater community.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree - Theological Focus

  • Board Certified with accredited chaplaincy group such as: APC, NACC or NAJC.

  • Four (4) Units of CPE and eligible for certification.

  • Must achieve Board Certification within 24 months of hire date.

  • Three (3) years of parish, hospital, hospice chaplaincy or comparable experience

Pay Range

$23.98 - $34.78 /hour
