The role you'll contribute:

Provides direct and indirect nursing care under the direction of a RN and in accordance with policies and procedures. Coordinates and prioritizes multiple patients, physicians and staff needs. Transcribes physician orders and provides other unit clerical functions to facilitate quality of patient care. Provides video and electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring for patients while maintaining the sensitivity for patient’s needs. Assumes personal accountability for organizational mission and core values.

  • Assists with safe and appropriate delegated patient care tasks which are directly supervised by a Registered Nurse.

  • Provides person-centered care with sensitivity and respect for the human experience in a collaborative fashion with other team members. Assists care team in achieving daily patient and family goals.

  • Provides quality patient care, including comfort and hygiene measures, preventative skin care, safety measures, transport, and nutritional and elimination needs. May perform in a sitter role.

  • Performs patient observation via EEG and video monitoring and identifies patient changes.

  • Promptly notifies RN of aura, changes in EEG or patient behavior and epileptic suspected changes to ensure patient safety.

  • Reports patient status changes and needs to Registered Nurse accurately and in a timely manner, demonstrates effective use of clinical strategies to insure patient and associate safety.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Required:

  • High School Diploma OR GED.

  • Certified Nursing Assistant Graduate of a Nursing Assistant Program.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association.

Preferred:

  • Six months of Certified Nursing Assistant experience.

  • Previous experience in a critical care setting desirable.

  • Previous nursing unit secretary or medical office experience.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Basic computer skills.
