Position Overview

We are seeking a Category Manager, Cabin

The Category Manager-Cabin leads managing Technology, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Sustainability performance of Navistar’s Exterior’s Supply Base. Responsible for Plastic Injection Molded, SMC/Compression Molded, Blow/rotomolded, Chrome or Painted components for all Navistar products including School Bus. Category Manager’s key activities include leading strategic sourcing activities for future programs, resourcing, and management of cost reduction projects with suppliers on existing programs, supplier contract negotiations and administration, execution of comprehensive commercial agreements, and overall supplier performance management.

As Procurement Category Manager, you will co-lead the Exterior Category Management Team (CMT) with your Product Development counterpart, working cross functionally within Navistar interfacing with program management, quality, manufacturing, sales & marketing, risk management, finance, logistics, aftermarket parts, product pricing, supply chain and more.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Exterior Category Management Team along with engineeering counter parts.

  • Develop and execute Category Strategy.

  • Negotiate/execute pricing and long term agreements to ensure robust supply of products.

  • Colborate with sister TRATON brands on group strategy alignment.

  • Work with engineering to identify and implement design solutions to minimize supply risk and optamized quality and cost.

  • Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure product quality, on time delivery and service levels are met.

  • Lead strategic sourcing decisions for both new product launches as well as current business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities.

  • Analyze category spend to identify and develop new cost reduction opportunities using variety of procurement levers including competitive bidding, global sourcing, negotiation, technology, supply chain/footprint optimization, target costing, aftermarket service parts, etc.

  • Work with Navistar legal group to execute a variety of legal agreements such as Non-disclosure, Comprehensive Supply, Development, and Warranty Agreements.

  • Maintain communication to Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, and Engineering customers and escalate issues when needed – know who, when, and how to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 8 years of purchasing/procurement experience

  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • Master’s degree

  • At least 6 years of purchasing/procurement experience

  • At least 1 year of lead experience

OR

  • At least 10 years of purchasing/procurement experience

  • At least 1 year of lead experience

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills

  • Procurement background with experience in Commercial Vehicle, Automotive or relevant industries.

  • Self-starter with ability to deal with ambiguity and work independently.

  • Ability to read, understand, and execute contracts.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Excellent time management skills – can organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet specific deadlines.

  • Ability to establish relationships and encourage cooperation between organizations.

  • Work effectively in a team environment

  • Analytical skills, including data mining.
