The Payload and Ground Systems Division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is a strategic partner specializing in delivering intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solutions for classified and unclassified missions in space. Headquartered in Linthicum, Maryland, PGS has offices, manufacturing, and world-class assembly, integration, and test facilities. We do it all here, on-site, from sensors to payloads to full up spacecraft, supporting Class A to Class D missions. Our key capabilities include Active RF, Passive RF, and Electro-Optical space payloads, space solar power, cross domain missions, and space resilience payloads & solutions.
This position is based 100% on-site at our Linthicum, Maryland location.
This position is for a Staff Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T) Lead Engineer to join our Remote Sensing Programs Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (RSP SEIT) team . This role will be responsible for leading the AI&T effort of a program which is responsible for producing, integrating and testing multiple space payloads. In this role, the preferred candidate will:
Develop a payload integration and test plan supporting the overall program plan.
Utilize prior experience to evaluate the Payload AI&T Production plan and identify areas for improvement and efficiencies.
Oversee the implementation and execution of the integration and test plan.
Lead teams and activities within the Payload AI&T IPT to ensure critical milestones are met.
Support the IPT in the management of the cost and schedule of the AI&T effort.
Work within cross-functional teams that include systems, software, electrical, mechanical, test, and production engineers.
Support technical and cost proposals and assessments.
Develop and present products for major program reviews and activities.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s STEM degree and 12 years of relevant experience. Or Master’s degree and 10 years. Or Ph.D. and 7 years.
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access.
Must have the ability to take a Polygraph.
Prior AI&T experience (such as developing test cases and/or scripts and execution of tests) on Flight Hardware above the Subsystem level of assembly.
Prior AI&T experience supporting environmental test of assemblies (e.g., Thermal Vacuum, Vibration, Acoustics etc.).
Ability to work independently and manage tasks to ensure the primary objectives of the team and program are met.
Ability to manage challenging and continuously changing schedules and tasks with little direction.
Preferred Qualifications:
Integrated product team lead and/or cost account manager experience.
Integration and test experience to include developing the detailed Integration Flow, identifying required facilities, coordinating development and build of Ground Support Equipment, identifying and planning required personnel for execution.
Experience leading an AI&T program to include initial planning, development, execution through to delivery of a complete system(s).
Experience testing RF payloads for space.
Salary Range: $157,500 - $236,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
