Phillips 66 Field Network Analyst, Bayway Refinery in Linden, New Jersey

The Field Network Analyst role blends elements of an IT System Administrator and Technical Specialist directly supporting critical IT equipment required for downstream refining units at the Bayway Refinery. This role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining virtual and physical servers/workstations, configuring and monitoring network routers/switches, and administrating Windows Domains. This position is onsite and will work closely with key refining teams, including operations, process controls, and instrumentation groups. Advanced knowledge of industrial control system best practices (both industry practices and P66 corporate standards) will be required and training will be provided where necessary. Additional knowledge sharing and support will occur through corporate best practice networks and colleagues located at other P66 refineries and facilities. Critical analysis, self-motivation, strong organizational skills, and the ability to deliver on IT solutions are key to this role.
Responsibilities May Include:
Configuring and managing network switches (Cisco Catalyst, MOXA)
Serving as Windows Domain System Administration (Account management, patching, backups, etc.)
Configuring and maintaining virtual community (VMware ESXi clusters)
Supporting data traffic interfacing with the refinery process control network and the corporate IT business network
Managing hardware refresh activities including budgeting, cutover scheduling, and project execution/implementation
Adhering to corporate required cybersecurity standards relating to the industrial control network environment - network connecting DCS/PLCs/Analyzers
Troubleshooting and resolving network issues relating to critical infrastructure
Maintaining documentation of supported systems and reviewing new project design
Coordinating resources and suppliers to complete projects and work requests
Continuously identifying improvement opportunities, cost reductions, ways to streamline data transfer, and overall system enhancements
Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
High School diploma or GED
3 or more years of experience in an applicable system networking and/or information technology discipline
Proven ability to work well with business, and local and remote IT resources
Proven verbal and written communication skills for direct customer interaction
Ability and willingness to provide day-to-day and off-hours support when business needs arise
Ability and willingness to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC); Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
Ability and willingness to lift and move computers, servers, and other small network devices
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in MIS, Computer Science, Engineering, or related areas
5 or more years of experience in system networking and/or information technology
3 or more years of direct experience with:
Cisco Catalyst switches
Windows Domain System Administration
VMware ESXi clusters
Experience managing network architecture and connectivity drawings
Experience managing an Enterprise Backup Solution (i.e. Acronis)
Possess a good understanding of Firewall principles and system security
Experience with system management applications (i.e. Solarwinds)
Managing and maintaining a wireless network in an enterprise environment
Manage, update, and maintain antivirus patching software and distribution
Ability to create an environment of inclusiveness and foster communication
Ability to demonstrate a high level of initiative and results-driven effort
Proven discipline in following operational standards and processes
Experience working in manufacturing, chemicals, and/or oil and gas
The Bayway Refinery is located on the New York Harbor in Linden, New Jersey. Bayway's facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, solvent deasphalting, hydrodesulfurization and alkylation units. The complex also includes a polypropylene plant with the capacity to produce up to 775 million pounds per year. The refinery processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. Foreign crude oil is supplied to the refinery by tanker, and domestic crude oil is supplied through a combination of rail and marine transportation. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petrochemical feedstocks, residual fuel oil and home heating oil. Refined products are distributed to East Coast customers by pipeline, barge, rail car and truck.
