Opower Spoke Group Overview

We are a former start-up (Opower) that was acquired by Oracle in 2016 but kept our start-up energy and atmosphere. We use utility data and behavioral science to help people save energy through a comprehensive product suite across various communication channels and a modern web platform. Our organization, is focused on building products that educate our customers about their energy, water, or other utility usage via our machine-learning driven insights and nudge customers to become more efficient and flexible with their usage. These products have saved over 31 Terawatt-Hours of electricity and avoided 15.2 million metric tons of carbon in our atmosphere! Our products need to continue to scale to serve even more customers and provide increased flexibility with the communications we send. These represent big challenges that will require critical thinking and innovative engineering. We are very mission-driven and are looking for an engineer who shares this mission to join our team!

Job Description

In this role you will be owning a direction, communication, and decision-making related to a transformation of Opower stack into Oracle Cloud native. Responsible for the delivery and quality of the ultimate solution. Responsible for long-term vision across our entire Software platform: how our technologies add up to products that meet our current and future business needs, and how the environment in which they are developed supports that. Technology guru setting technical direction across R&D teams.

Experience

Here are the recommended experiences needed to really succeed in this role:

Requirements

10+ years of professional experience with Java

MS or BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Expert with Java as a first-class language.

Expect in containerization and container orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes).

Understanding and experience with microservices architecture concept and experience in its implementation.

Solid expertise in Cloud technologies and experience working with major Cloud providers.

Wide background and experience leading architecture, design and implementation of complex features and delivery of large‐scale applications in real-world situations, that have a meaningful business impact, decommissioning older versions and simplifying the whole ecosystem.

Experience of building and transforming complex software systems.

Deep understanding of how distributed resilient software is built and deployed, solid experience with larger projects (large code bases), knowledge of cloud application security, performance and scalability.

Experience articulating strategic decisions and solutions.

Exceptional technical communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to a technical or non-technical audience. Experience working across teams: deliver tech talks, contribute technologies used by multiple teams, leads cross-team efforts, presents new concepts to large audiences effectively.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
