Job Summary:

An MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Engineer is responsible for managing MES software systems within manufacturing environments. They ensure seamless integration of the MES with existing ERP and automation systems. Key responsibilities include developing real-time monitoring solutions, optimizing production processes, troubleshooting system issues, and ensuring data accuracy. The role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, software development, and database management, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess business needs for process optimization

  • Develop real-time monitoring solutions to optimize production processes and minimize downtime

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance manufacturing workflows

  • Analyze data and report findings to stakeholders

  • Maintain and update MES documentation and work instructions

Supervisor Responsibilities:

  • The job may evolve to include supervisory responsibilities

Education, Certification & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software/computer engineering, or engineering (mechanical or industrial, preferred)

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills

  • Proven experience delivering technical solutions in cross-functional teams

  • Knowledge of programming languages (E.g., SQL, Python, Java, Visual Basic, or R) and relational database structures

  • Implementation knowledge of off-the-shelf MES systems such as Rockwell PLEX FactoryTalk and Ignition SCADA

  • Familiarity of business intelligence or reporting tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)

  • Familiarity of MES integrations with any of the following:

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, preferably IFS

  • Quality Management Systems (QMS)

  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

  • Enterprise Asset Management (EAM)

  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA)
