The Lima Family YMCA in Lima, OH is seeking a dynamic part-time swim team coach to join our Lima Barracuda swim team to provide a high-quality program that fulfills the mission of the YMCA. 

                              

Essential Functions 

  • The incumbent must have the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the association's mission, goals, and visions for serving the community.  
  • The Swim Coach will be responsible for the following: 
  • Directs and supervises program activities to meet YMCA objectives.  Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.  Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. 
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules personnel and volunteers as needed.  Reviews and evaluates staff performance. 
  • Assists in keeping accurate records of pool chemical levels and monitoring pool chemicals. 
  • Organizes the YMCA Barracuda swim team, schedules, conducts swim meets, swim team practices and assigns workouts appropriately. 
  • Assists in YMCA fund-raising activities and special events. 
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. 
  • Compiles program statistics.  Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program. 
  • Responsible for completing department payroll. 
  • Accurately uses online swim team software to communicate and post practice/changes. 

      

Qualifications 

The incumbent must bring to the position a minimum of two years coaching experience and/or teaching of swim lessons. 

The following certifications are preferred: USA Coaching 

Ability to maintain positive working relationships with swimmers and their parents. 

Along with all the qualifications one needs to be motivated, a positive Christian attitude and be a team member. 

Ability to maintain a safe swimming environment. 

Strong organizational/communication skills required.
