About the role:

Join Takeda as a Director, External Data Governance & Execution where you will play a crucial role in driving and navigating transformative initiatives while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and growth. You will also play a vital role in this mission by overseeing and managing the performance and delivery of the data vendor community, coordinating on the approach to data ingestion in concert with Data, Digital and technology (DD&T), and managing the book of business and all related documentation. The Director of External Data Governance & Execution comprehensively manages the rules and processes that define the provisioning of externally sourced data both in regards to the responsibilities of the suppliers upstream from Takeda as well as how it is delivered to corporate system. As part of the Commercial Data Management & Strategy (CDMS), you will report to Head of U.S. Commercial Data Management & Strategy and partner with Business Unit (BU), Master Data, Sales Operations, and DD&T colleagues, as well as external partners.

How you will contribute:

  • Partner with an extensive network of external data suppliers to oversee and take accountability for the delivery of high quality data to ensure that performance measures up to or exceeds contracted service level agreements.

  • Engage with stakeholders to enable business strategies and provide thought leadership on opportunities where external data partners and capabilities play an important role.

  • Provide data governance and execution leadership and develop roadmaps and strategic plans to articulate the vision.

  • Partner with DD&T in concert with the data acquisition and master data domain leads as the expert and senior conduit to the technical partners within data vendors to initiate new action as well as to remediate and resolve challenges.

  • Knowledgeable of USBU procured data and build enterprise data awareness of capabilities and opportunities.

  • Partner closely with stakeholders, particularly in sales operations, to align strategies, improve communication channels, and enhance cross-functional cooperation.

  • Drive cultural improvements within the team and manage change effectively while cultivating a culture of transparency and continuous improvement

  • Champion the enhancement of data literacy among team members, facilitating knowledge-sharing and leveraging data-driven decision-making.

  • Actively pursue ways to cultivate a learning culture, encouraging ongoing skill development to propel the team’s growth and success.

  • Enable the USBU to acquire and continually improve advanced data capabilities, provide high quality data, deliver operational excellence, and empower greater adoption through education.

  • Orchestrate and oversee compliant processes and policies for the intake of externally sourced data.

  • Liaise with privacy/ethics/compliance to ensure adherence to Takeda standards and related governance expectations.

  • Own and manage the business rules and related governance tasks applied to sourced data by the supplier community.

  • Provide comprehensive documentation on all data partners and ensures it remains up to date and accessible.

  • Manage the contractual book of business and all aspects of the contract lifecycle in partnership with Finance and Procurement, playing a leadership role in cyclical activities such as MRP and MYC.

  • Monitor and control all supplier-based project activities and actively coordinate with BU, DD&T, COBS, and Vendor-based team leads to ensure performance and delivery meet contracted expectations.

  • Provide data investigation case management and tracking for complex and escalated matters requiring cross-functional teamwork and research across the USBU.

  • Ensure operational excellence across the data delivery and ingestion aspects of the data supply chain.

  • Partner with BU, DD&T, and Vendor colleagues throughout the data and software development cycle and into operational components to ensure all parties are aligned and working towards Takeda’s strategic and tactical objectives.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS/BA degree with MS/MBA preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, immunology, biologic/biotech, or medical device industries.

  • Minimum of 8 years of people leadership experience leading a medium to large organization and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders

  • Proven track record of driving business process transformation and organizational culture change as well as delivering on programs with complex business deliverables

  • Ability to set priorities, deliver on deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks in an evolving, dynamic marketplace.

  • Strong analytical skills and budget management.

  • Previous organizational change management experience

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and skills necessary to lead through change and influence without authority.

  • Ability to demonstrate strategic and critical thinking, as well as problem solving skills

  • Strong organizational, planning and project management skills–ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and develop workflow processes and tasks for multiple projects

  • Track record of successful leadership, management, and development of small to medium, multi-disciplinary dispersed teams. Strong judge of talent with the ability to make tough talent decisions.

  • Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry

U.S. Base Salary Range:

$169,400.00 - $266,200.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
