We are currently searching for an experienced Project Controls Specialist to support our design of natural gas pipeline projects located in Lexington, KY. The Project Controls Specialist role will support the tracking, updating, and monitoring of cost control functions across all Natural Gas Group projects and internal management. Typical daily responsibilities include the tracking and reporting of project expenses, logging invoices and reconciling project spends through a variety of means. Additionally, the Project Controls Specialist will assist in higher-level cost/budget analysis relating to cost engineering and earned value factors.What you’ll be doing:Daily Responsibilities:Track project expenses and report weekly to project specific PM’sReconcile differences between actual invoiced expenses and allotted project budgetPrepare and update project forecasts for weekly and monthly reportingKeep an up-to-date Purchase Order logKeep an up-to-date Invoice logAssist in the change order process through client communication and tracking when additional funds become available.Cost Engineering:Assist with the development and management of the cost control systems to provide project and company management with accurate financial information. Facilitates the development of the work breakdown structure (WBS), interfacing with Procurement, Engineering, and Finance Departments as needed. Perform some independent analysis of data stored in the project management and cost control systems. Create presentations using graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate cost status.Earned Value: Implement and maintain an Earned Value Management System on the project. Analyze cost and schedule performance indicators (CPI and SPI). Prepare and maintains project forecasts and status updates. Provide assessment with corrective action recommendations to management.Planning and Scheduling:Implement and maintain Project Planning and Scheduling. Gain an understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships. Develop and maintain less complex critical path logic networks and bar charts utilizing this information. Analyze, evaluate, and forecast current status against an established baseline schedule.Assess the impact(s) of design or construction changes and schedule slippages. Report schedule status to all levels of project and Company management as well as to the Client.Other Functions:Create project startup forms when purchase orders are received. Create project folder setup Submit project deliverables in the preferred method of the client. Maintain communication with clients, controllers, and buyers regarding project financial status.
