BASIC PURPOSE:
The Engineering & Order Processing Assistant designs simple products, assists engineers in creating engineering models and drawings and maintains engineering file systems as well as BOMs and Routes.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB:
· Creates, updates, and maintains CAD models and dimensional drawings
· Identifies and translates product related information into correct BOM/Routing structure in Microsoft Dynamics D365 by using the engineering approved selection tables and manufacturing provided routing
· Provides timely feedback to incoming requests from customer service, planning and manufacturing
- Resolves BOM related issues
· Performs all work in a timely manner ensuring adherence to drawing best practices, excellent accuracy and clarity
· Generates routes to control the flow of material towards manufacturing lines
· Inserts/fills all mandatory fields in Microsoft Dynamics D365 -- fields per SOP and WI specified
· Facilitates prototyping, and performs testing on low-complexity products
· Maintains assigned product line(s) and makes changes to improve product quality
· Maintains engineering file systems (network shares, Sharepoint business records, ProFile PDM, etc.) and ensures data integrity and consistency
· Manages and executes simple design projects according to predefined project plans
· Supports ECN creation and processing as it relates to Engineering
· Acts as subject matter expert for Engineering-related Axapta activities (including training of other team members)
· Processes Engineering Drawing Requests (EDRs)
· Supports other departments, focus factories, and customers in regard to engineering drawings, databases, and other Engineering-related tools
· Assists with engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis
· Prepares 2D and 3D product visualizations in PDF, PowerPoint, or other format as requested by team members
· Performs ancillary duties as needed
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
· Associates degree (or equivalent) preferred
· Mechanical drawing basics ( Ability to demonstrate understanding of views, dimensioning, fits, and geometric tolerances)
· Familiarity with basic manufacturing operations (Welding, turning, milling)
· 2+ years of combined working experience and/or study in engineering drafting, design engineering, manufacturing engineering are preferred
· Strong Solidworks and basic AutoCAD experience required (Creo experience also a plus)
· Intermediate level of experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
