Job Information

Argonne National Laboratory Postdoctoral Appointee - Quantum Materials in Lemont, Illinois

The Q-NEXT Quantum Foundry Thrust is looking for a postdoctoral candidate to perform research on heterogeneous device integration of superconducting samples with other superconducting or photonic systems for novel quantum technologies. A successful candidate would work on nanofabrication, assembly, and cryogenic microwave/optical characterization of the hybrid devices. A successful candidate would be part of a dynamic team working collaboratively with researchers in both the Q-NEXT Materials and Device Integration and Quantum Communication thrusts on optimal hybrid device architectures for various applications involving quantum interconnects.

The candidate will primarily be responsible for developing an experimental program to fabricate new hybrid devices via flip-chip bonding in the Argonne Cleanroom facility, and then performing microwave and/or optical characterization of the heterogeneous devices using Q-NEXT cryogenic capabilities. The candidate will collaborate with other members of Q-NEXT Quantum Information Science Research Center to develop new ideas and seek research opportunities with other scientists at the CNM, Argonne Materials Science Division and the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering.

The candidate is expected to publish results in refereed journals and makes oral presentations at meetings conferences, symposia, and seminars. The candidate is expected to maintain cognizance of available techniques and expertise in related research groups through interactions and collaborative efforts. The candidate will also participate in maintaining technical reports on experiment progress, technique development, and new initiatives to peer reviewers and program managers.
