JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, has an immediate opening for a student-centered Academic Adviser to join the Student Success Center team. The adviser will follow standard principles and systems while performing the duties of the position and will typically work under direct supervision while performing duties using established procedures. This is a 12-month standing position working 40 hours per week. Full Penn State benefits are included.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing individual and group academic advising to students

  • Serving as an assigned academic adviser and managing a roster of students

  • Assisting students in navigating University policies, procedures, and program curriculum requirements, assisting with student degree progress, and supporting students through the exploratory process

  • Documenting and maintaining confidential advising notes and maintaining the confidentiality of student records

  • Monitoring student academic progress

  • Preparing, coordinating, and presenting Student Success Center (SSC) workshops and programs that promote academic success for undergraduate students

  • Assisting in the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation (NSO): developing and organizing orientation materials, presenting academic information to students and families, advising incoming students, serving as a campus representative on the University orientation team, and performing event logistics and preparation

  • Collaborating with colleagues in the Division of Undergraduate Studies as needed to further student success goals

  • Demonstrating a commitment to building an inclusive and equitable campus community

  • Establishing and developing ongoing targeted advising for students experiencing academic difficulty

  • Contributing to committees and working groups for student success, retention, diversity and inclusion

  • Providing support to faculty advisers regarding university policies and procedures

  • Serving as a resource for faculty academic advisers, faculty, and students

  • Participating in recruitment and retention activities, including meetings for prospective students/families

  • Assisting in maintaining an active digital presence for the Student Success Center including web pages and social media accounts

  • Solving problems within the current ethical and professional standards of the University and by relevant professional organizations (e.g., NACE & NACADA)

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires a Master's degree and at least one year of experience o r an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Successfully completed clearances for Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check and FBI Criminal Background Check prior to hire.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
