COUNTY OF BERKS Delivery Driver (Library System Department) in Leesport, Pennsylvania
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for operating a delivery vehicle to distribute library materials to various locations throughout the County.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions
- Picks up, sorts, and delivers library materials following established schedules and routes.
- Prepare library materials for shipment according to established procedures.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma
- Valid PA driver's license and excellent driving record
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to drive an automobile, van or bus on a daily basis
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to frequently load and unload materials from delivery vehicle
- Ability to handle and operate all equipment relevant to the position, including but not limited to keys, telephones, writing instruments, vehicles, etc.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation pertaining to position and deliveries
- Ability to handle stress
- Physical presence in the workplace is required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to frequently bend, twist, and reach to move, push, pull or lift objects weighing up to and including 60 lbs.
- Ability to handle objects, tools, and controls and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to traverse stairs regularly
- Ability to walk up to 1/2 mile
- Ability to hear, speak, and see to communicate with the public on a daily basis
- Vision and hearing abilities that are natural or corrected to the normal range of vision and hearing. May not be affected by color blindness to any degree which would prevent him/her from effectively performing job duties
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Requires driving a vehicle in various weather and road conditions.
- Requires working in varying and/or extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.)
