A little more about your role…
As the Technical Director, you will lead a specialist team within WSP’s Civil Engineering discipline. To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in the nuclear industry, including new build and generation projects, and will play a key role in delivering high-quality design and safety solutions. Your day-to-day will include doing the following:
Operational Leadership: Manage and direct a division of cross-functional engineering teams, ensuring high performance and quality deliverables.
Team Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for the team.
Engineering Management: Oversee multi-disciplinary engineering projects, ensuring adherence to technical and safety standards.
Nuclear Projects: Working on SMR and GW scale new build nuclear projects and nuclear generation projects.
Nuclear Licensing: Lead the licensing processes for nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining and developing strong relationships to secure new business.
Commercial Negotiation: Manage financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, cost estimation, and commercial negotiations.
Project Delivery: Supervise the completion of detailed designs and safety cases, ensuring all project deliverables meet client expectations.
Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, contributing to the growth of WSP’s Civil Engineering division.
Change Management: Implement change management strategies to improve project outcomes and team efficiency.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…
Proven leadership in engineering management and team direction.
In-depth knowledge of nuclear licensing processes and regulatory frameworks.
Strong background in civil, structural, seismic, and geotechnical engineering.
Experience in managing client relationships and business development.
Excellent commercial negotiation and financial management skills.
Demonstrated ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
Strong mentoring and coaching capabilities.
