Are you ready to take charge in a pivotal role within our energetic team? Sulzer Leeds is expanding, and we're seeking a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure our suppliers meet industry standards, Sulzer's stringent requirements, and project specifications. Your expertise will be crucial in minimizing non-conformance and ensuring timely delivery of compliant products.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
Leadership and Mentorship: Provide effective coaching and mentoring to your team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and development.
Process Management: Manage internal and supplier-facing processes, adapting and enhancing them as needed to optimize quality and efficiency.
Knowledge Sharing: Share your extensive knowledge with team members, contributing to the collective growth and expertise of the department.
Production Support: Support production schedules by overseeing external inspection tasks, ensuring they align with delivery requirements and client expectations.
Supplier Audits and Continuous Improvement: Manage the supplier audit schedule, conduct audits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives based on findings.
Supplier Inspections: Conduct in-process, notified, and final inspections at supplier premises. Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure timely resolution of any non-conformities.
Supplier Selection and Risk Mitigation: Utilize your supply chain experience and supplier performance data to assist in supplier selection and mitigate risks effectively.
Supplier Quality Kick-Off Meetings: Attend and facilitate kick-off meetings with suppliers to ensure clear understanding of project requirements and expectations.
Collaboration and Conflict Resolution: Liaise with relevant departments to resolve conflicts and clarify specifications, ensuring smooth project execution.
NCR Management: Manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), communicate technical requirements for rectification, and minimize disruption to production schedules.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification aligned with relevant experience.
Experience in an inspection environment with qualifications such as NDT, CSWIP, NACE, or CompEx.
Proficiency in working with various materials and processes including castings, forgings, fabrications, machining, electrical, and paint.
Strong computer skills and familiarity with SAP or similar systems.
Experience in a related industry with knowledge of industry practices and standards.
Familiarity with rotating equipment or similar packages.
Proficient in Root Cause Analysis.
Valid UK Driving License.
