Overview:

The Operations Manager is responsible for production, shipping, receiving and warehouse functions in a multi-shift site.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Operate a safe work environment that exceeds OSHA requirements and assures that all production, shipping, receiving and warehouse operations are in compliance with corporate policies and government regulations.

  • Meet or exceed all customer requirements (e.g. on-time shipments) with excellent service and quick resolution of customer complaints.

  • Assure that manufacturing equipment is utilized efficiently to produce high quality products where the return on investment is maximized.

  • Provide leadership and direction for continuous improvement in the plant processes and systems.

  • Assure that key performance measures are implemented and used to facilitate sustained levels of improvement.

  • Implement ways to reduce costs, eliminate waste and reduce inventory levels.

  • Handle all supervisory responsibilities for operations personnel including recruiting, hiring, training, work performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.

  • Assure applicable operations are properly staffed with capable people and that team member skills are continually developed and improved.

  • Assist Plant or Regional Manager in developing annual plant operating budget and control spending per approved budget.

  • Assure that a good quality management system (and ISO certification where applicable) is maintained.

  • Other related duties as instructed by the supervisor.

Job Specifications/Skills:

  • Minimum 5-years’ experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing facility.

  • Working knowledge of Supply Chain Management concepts/methods (e.g. MPS, MRP/MRPII, CRP, PAC, JIT).

  • Physical ability to lift, move and/or carry up to 50 lbs.

  • Self-starter who works independently and can produce results with minimal management guidance.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and motivate teams within the plant environment.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally with both plant and corporate personnel.

  • 2nd language preferred.

  • Computer skills: Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Access and Outlook.

  • Demonstrated team orientation in a cooperative environment and excellent customer service skills.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Engineering or Manufacturing/Industrial Management graduates preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience to include a minimum of 10 years manufacturing experience in progressively responsible positions.

Travel:

  • 5-10%
