Dartmouth Health Project Manager - Research Associate in Lebanon, New Hampshire

Overview

The Project Manager, Research Assocation will be a key DH system leader contributing to interdisciplinary research, innovation, and public health impact in Care Experience (CE). Reporting to and in collaboration with the DH System Vice President for CE, and working with with CE, research, coproduction, clinical and other key stakeholders and collaborators across the Dartmouth Health (DH) system, the Dartmouth academic community, and external collaborators, the PM will strategically bridge academic, clinical, and community engagement to foster research excellence and healthcare quality improvement in key areas related to advancing the system DH CE strategic plan and the DH Value Institute (VI) improvement science research strategy. The PM will be a member of the system Care Experience senior leadership team and will shape initiatives in improvement science, community-engaged research, and related education and development activities. This role leverages a collaborative ecosystem to address pressing community and public health challenges, co-develop solutions, and strengthen translational research and clinical/operational-academic partnerships.

Responsibilities

The PM will collaborate and lead in the execution of the CE and VI improvement science research strategies in the following areas: (1) team science; (2) community-engaged research; (3) grant strategy innovation; and (4) representation and dissemination.

  • Team science:The PM will focus on execution of the improvement science research scholarship aspects of the Care Experience and VI strategic plans, with a specific focus on developing team science capability for key strategic initiatives such as the Connect Share Care virtual peer facilitated network, etc. This includes the following scope and functions:

  • Collaborative Vision:Co-develop and implement a strategic research agenda that integrates improvement science, public health, and clinical innovation.

  • Team Development:Co-lead the establishment of an interdisciplinary research team to advance co-production, mentoring, grant development, and scholarly output in our current and future projects.

  • Integration:Contribute to the co-design and integration of quality improvement science across institutional research and education initiatives, ensuring academic alignment with strategic priorities.

  • Community-engaged research:The PM will be a key leader in developing, nurturing, scaling, and sustaining community partnerships and collaborative research and scholarship activities in care experience, public health, and healthcare coproduction. This includes the following scope and functions:

  • Equity-Driven Engagement: Develop and sustain equitable partnerships with diverse community stakeholders, ensuring public health priorities guide research and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Community Co-Production: Facilitate community-academic co-production of research, integrating community-defined priorities and outcomes into project design and evaluation.

  • Public Health Advocacy: Service in and development of Care Experience capability for public health advocacy, aligning academic initiatives with community needs to address social determinants of health and promote health equity.

  • Grant strategy innovation:The PM will be a key operational leader in developing infrastructure, capability, and processes for successful grant funding efforts to support improvement science research and scholarship. This includes the following scope and functions:

  • Grant leadership: Co-develop innovative grant proposals that prioritize improvement science and community impact, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

  • Sustainability focus: Identify and participate in team science efforts to secure funding to sustain and expand research, education, and community engagement initiatives.

  • Measurable impact: Establish and monitor performance metrics to evaluate improvement science initiatives and grant-funded projects, ensuring alignment with institutional and community-defined outcomes.

  • Representation and dissemination:As part of the Care Experience research and system senior leadership team, the PM will represent DH Care Experience and the Value Institute in the dissemination of scholarly work and in activities contributing to improvement science research and scholarship in the larger academic community. This includes the following scope and functions:

  • Academic participation: Represent DH Care Experience and the Value Institute in forums on quality improvement, improvement science, and community engagement, building local, national, and international partnerships.

  • Thought leadership: Publish and present findings to academic and community audiences, positioning the institution as a leader in improvement science and public health innovation.

  • Bridge building: Act as a liaison between researchers, clinicians, healthcare systems, and community stakeholders to foster bi-directional knowledge sharing and collaboration.

  • Dissemination: Help to establish the VI Improvement Science Community of Practice. Work with teams to develop and publication strategy and assist with authoring, writing up methods, IRB, analysis and dissemination strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of experience in project management.

  • Previous healthcare industry experience preferred.

  • Strong analytical problem solving skills with demonstrated skills to define scope and analyze complex, cross-functional problems and processes.

  • Basic knowledge in research evaluation design and descriptive statistics.

  • Excellent communication, organizational, decision making and leadership skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Excellent writing skills and experience in scientific writing and presentations.

  • Must be skilled in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
