Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA) preferred.

One year of previous experience in office or outpatient ambulatory care setting

Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to work well as a member of a team.

Computer skills strongly preferred.

Flexibility and tolerance to handle multiple demands and priorities across varying surgical and specialty clinics

Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Medical Technicians Registration RSA 328-1:7

Certified in blood alcohol testing, DOT - testing, pre and post-employment testing, preferred. Obtain within 60 days of hire.

PART TWO:FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

*

Position Objective

*

Under general supervision of the Registered Nurse and direct clinical supervision of a medical clinician, the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks that promote optimum patient care and satisfaction while enhancing clinician and practice effectiveness.

*

Performance Expectation

  • Under direction from MD, Practice Director or RN, performs as a team member under the PFCC methodology and practice.

  • Manage the flow of patients and paperwork through the practice by preparing the patient's electronic or paper medical record for his/her visit, completing health forms, researching and calling in prescription renewals per clinician's written instructions, notifying patients of normal test results following clinician review and sign off, greeting/discharging and assisting patients, and providing pre/post visit instructions per practice/clinician guidelines.

  • Prepare exam/treatment room, conduct brief interview per clinician guidelines, obtain and document vital signs, perform and document basic screening/diagnostic measures and collect and process specimens according to Practice guidelines.

  • Assist and chaperone clinicians during examinations, procedures and treatments.

  • Perform and document clinical procedures per established hospital policies and practice standards and guidelines.

  • Maintain the cleanliness and general appearance of work, examination, and treatment areas; clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain equipment and instruments following universal precautions, infection control, and hazardous waste removal practices.

  • Stock exam/treatment rooms, order equipment and supplies according to organization and practice guidelines, and maintain adequate quantities to meet practice demands; dispose of contaminated supplies and materials in the prescribed manner.

  • Performs routine (daily/ weekly/ monthly) cleaning and calibration checks for medical equipment.

  • Maintains provider schedule and keeps provider aware of the same. Assists with the provider in all aspects of patient flow. Communicates with the patients any delays or needs to reschedule.

  • Assist with answering telephones, taking messages, scheduling appointments, tests or procedures, arranging referrals, and performing other administrative duties to meet the needs of patients, co-workers and the practice.

  • Perform skills and procedures outlined within Scope of Practice for CMA/RMA after documented demonstration of competency, as defined by organizational or practice standards.

  • Prepares and administers injections/immunizations per clinician's written order upon successful completion of Immunization Administration module and demonstrated competency. CMA/RMA may not administer medications, blood products or controlled substances.

  • Recognize limitations and seek advice and direction from MD, PA or RN.

  • Demonstrate technical and interpersonal skills necessary to complete job responsibilities.

  • Acquire new knowledge and skills to remain current in practice.

  • Willingly perform other duties as required or assigned.
