Job Title:Junior High CheerCoach

Reports To:Athletic Director/Principal

Supervises:Students

Job Goal:This position teaches and coaches students to the highest level that can be attained, while promoting academic achievement and policies of the district.

Performance Responsibilities

  1. Implement board and administration policies.
  2. Determines appropriate actions within clearly defined guidelines.
  3. Presents a positive image of the school to parents, and conveys the districts genuine concern with the education, growth, and development of each student.
  4. Works to develop a positive public relationship between the school district and community.
  5. Seeks to establish friendly and cooperative partnerships between home and school.
  6. Reacts positively to directives.
  7. Develops drills and practice activities that teach and enhance individual/team skill development.
  8. Observes, diagnoses and prescribes appropriate remediation activities during practice and game conditions for players and team.
  9. Knows and applies the developmental stages of each point of the sport to the needs and ability levels of the players and team.
  10. Assumes responsibility for providing training rules and expectations and seeing that rules are taught to each participant.

11.Assists in the scheduling of the sport or activity.

  1. Assumes responsibility for documenting the requirements for physical examinations, parental consent and eligibility.
  2. Manages assistant coaches through assignment of duties and responsibilities.
  3. Follows a budget in line with the districts guidelines and expectations.
  4. Develops and maintains an inventory list of equipment.
  5. Prepares and implements a schedule of checking out, maintaining and checking in equipment.
  6. Plans and enforces appropriate safety and health rules and regulations.
  7. Assumes responsibility for supervising students on out of town activities, at practices, at home events, etc.
  8. Communicates effectively with all audiences, i.e. players, officials, parents, supervisors, peers and spectators.
  9. Performs all other duties related to the position as assigned by the Athletic Director and Principal.

Supervisory Duties

Supervises students at all times.

Qualifications

Background Checks

Clearance on all background checks required by law that is satisfactory to the administration.

Education/Experience

Demonstrate ability to work effectively with students, peers and adults.

Skills and Abilities

Language

Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures/forms, and government regulations and guidelines. Must be able to complete forms, write reports, and engage in written correspondence with parents. Must have the ability to write clearly and complete lesson plans.

Reasoning

Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students.
