Job Title: Groundskeeper/General Maintenance

Summary
This individual will maintain safe and attractive grounds for all district properties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.
- Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers on district grounds; including watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.
- Plant shrubs and vegetation.
- Assist with the preparation and clean up of athletic fields and facilities for games, including marking fields.
- Water grounds and apply fertilizer as needed.
- Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.
- Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
- Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifts, climbing, etc.
- Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency. Perform preventative maintenance as needed.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
- Hours may change during mowing season.
- Assist with snow removal during the winter months.
- Perform general maintenance tasks in the district during off seasons.
- Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
Education/Certificates/ Licenses
- Valid Missouri driver license with no restrictions
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
Skills and Abilities
Language
Must have the ability to read and understand written instruction and to communicate verbally with other district employees.
Reasoning
Must have the ability to solve practical problems and follow directions as given.
Additional Skills and Abilities
The individual must have the ability and knowledge to operate a tractor and landscaping equipment. Also, must have the ability to operate riding or power mowers, power tools, and hand tools.

Walking
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend, squat, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to handle tools or controls.

The employee must have the ability to communicate effectively with other district employees. For safety reasons, must have the ability to hear the activity surrounding them while completing their job duties.
Seeing
Specific vision requirements include close, distant, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. For safety reasons, must have the ability to see the activity surrounding them while completing their job duties.
Lifting
The employee must frequently lift or move up to 50 lbs. occasionally the employee will lift or move up to 100 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly work outdoors and occasionally work indoors. There will be occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, hot and cold, dependent upon the season. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee will frequently work alone, and will occasionally work irregular or extended hours. The noise level of the work environment is usually loud. Frequent travel between district properties is required.
Terms of Employment
12 months. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board
Policy on Evaluation of Support Services Staff.
