Principal Information Management Specialist - Data Management

KBR’s global business comprises two main segments – Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) and Government Solutions (GS). This role sits within STS in the Integrated Solutions business unit. Integrated Solutions is the engineering and project delivery group providing services which include front-end and detailed engineering, procurement, construction services, and program management primarily in the hydrocarbons and energy transition industries.

KBR is looking for a Principal Information Management Specialist - Data Management to work in our Leatherhead offices.

Job Description:

The Principal Specialist IM role is responsible for the setup, management, and operation of Engineering Data Warehouse, development of Class Library and management of interfaces with other engineering applications such as SMARTPLANT and AVEVA suite. This includes managing complex information sets comprising documents/data and 3D model and all associated interfaces.

Responsible for ensuring that data is complete, consistent, accurate, and for providing support to the project team. Administers the data repositories where the project engineering and supplier data is stored and maintained. This involves receiving or performing the data transfers, validation, monitor changes and generating reports and to ensure effective handover of a complete, accurate dataset to the Client for the operational phase.

Supports the creation of an appropriate Information management plans covering engineering and supplier data delivery across project interfaces. Development and maintenance of project tag numbering schema, Class Libraries, and deliverable production, reporting and data progress measurement.

Key Activates:

  • Plan, direct, co-ordinate and be the focal point for all data management activities.

  • Understand the client and internal project requirements for data collection, conditioning, reporting and handover.

  • Liaise with engineering and suppliers to ensure completion and compliance of data submission.

  • Ensure compliance with Data Standards.

  • Coordinate with discipline lead engineers in the implementation of applications to be used and data to be generated, collected, exchanged and disseminated.

  • Working knowledge, understanding and expertise in AVEVA or Hexagon toolset as follows:

  • Engineering Data Warehouse (e,g, AVEVA Engineering)

  • Configure Grids for data entry.

  • Define List/Sub-lists and reports.

  • Tag management.

  • Engineering key list data.

  • Role-based data access controls

  • User support

  • Class Library Management tools (e.g. AVEVA ISM)

  • Define and maintain corporate Class Library and project requirements.

  • Configuring tag naming structures etc.

  • Configuring controlled value lists, UOMS etc.

  • Manage data is transfer from Class Library to other applications such as AVEVA Engineering, AVEVA Net/Engage.

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of IM and Data Management concepts i.e. Data Class Libraries, Interfaces with Engineering Applications etc

  • Interface with Project/Information Management to ensure active exchange of best practice and alignment of processes and systems.

  • Manage multi-location, IM data management teams.

  • Facilitate the setup and configuration of the data repositories to meet the project requirements.

  • Define procedures and processes for the population of the Data Repository.

  • Liaise with Client and/or Construction and/or Completions team personnel to ensure commissioning/operational hand-over requirements are understood & being met.

  • Define and develop data reports and statistics.

  • Liaise closely with other 3D CAD coordinators, Document management group and Procurement to support data-centric information management.

  • Provide regular reports on completeness of data set.

  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines to resolve any data inconsistencies, errors, or mapping issues.

  • Provide support to engineering disciplines and suppliers in use data collection and data management tools and work methods.

  • Manages the project close out and shutdown for the data management systems and applications.

    Experience, Education, Skills & Job Knowledge

  • University degree qualification or equivalent oil and gas industry experience.

  • A relevant number of years' experience in an engineering or designer or information management role.

  • An understanding of relational database applications to analyse, manipulate and transfer data.

  • Experience of using Aveva Engineering/standards manager, Life Cycle Server, SMARTPLANT Foundation.

  • Knowledge of Aveva Net and Aveva Engage an advantage.

  • SSRS, OBIEE, Power BI reporting or similar required. PML, procedural SQL etc an advantage.

  • Working knowledge of CFIHOS or other equivalent class libraries an advantage.
