Background

KBR Consulting International draws on a heritage of over thirty-five years specialising in the front-end phases of engineering projects from pre-feasibility, up to and including preliminary Front End Engineering Design (FEED) phases. In addition, we undertake small FEEDs as well as providing specialist consultancy to later through to phases of projects. The front-end nature of the work means that we are often involved in developments in areas and technologies new to the engineering industry.

With clients ranging from large internationals to smaller independent companies, we are currently heavily involved globally in the transition from oil and gas to other sources of energy including hydrogen and ammonia, decarbonisation, production of bio-fuels and the move towards minimal manning of offshore production facilities. Other projects include strategy / master plan development (‘Decisioneering’ process), financial modelling, product & energy optimisation, maximising asset performance and petrochemical integration.

Over the years, KBR has provided support for some of the largest industry capital investments in modern times. Moreover, KBR has acted as lender’s advisor on well over 200 projects for a broad range of clients and financial institutions across many sectors including upstream and downstream oil and gas, speciality chemicals, mining, biofuels, pulp and paper, power, and general infrastructure.

The Process Engineering team is at the heart of the design of the project using their technical expertise and problem solving skills to find optimum technical solutions, whilst working alongside other engineering disciplines to ensure a robust, economic and safe design. The Flow Assurance Group sits with the Process Engineering team.

You will work as part of small project teams developing concept and early project definition in the Oil and Gas sector.

As a Flow Assurance Team Manager your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the KBR Consulting Flow Assurance Team.

  • Contributing and providing guidance to several flow assurance projects at any given time.

  • Delivering high quality, accurate work within required deadlines. Provide responsibility for ensuring the quality of flow assurance deliverables developed by others.

  • Developing and maintaining customer relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction at project level and resolving any issues.

  • Ensuring clear communication between KBR clients and also between KBR inter-disciplines.

  • Ability to present work / results to clients in a clear and concise manner through both written and oral communication.

  • Acting as Lead Flow Assurance Engineer on a range of upstream projects as required, and lead Flow Assurance studies.

  • Providing input to the development of proposals and CTRs; and

  • Training, developing & mentoring the next generation of flow assurance engineers.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Industry recognised expert in the field of flow assurance.

  • Proven experience with an operating company or technical consultancy is a must.

  • Experience on a range of flow assurance projects ranging from Concept through to Detailed Design and Execute.

  • A relevant number of years of hands-on experience in the field of flow assurance.

  • Provision of expert knowledge and guidance for flow assurance work scopes to a wide variety of projects.

  • Expert insight into the application of all industry recognised flow assurance software.

  • Proven ability to guide work scopes and interpret results.

  • Experience in single and multiphase pipelines steady state and transient hydraulic analyses using industry standard software, e.g., OLGA, PIPESIM, PIPENET etc. is essential.

  • Minimum requirement is Chartered Engineer. Fellow is preferred.

  • Collaborative working approach and participation in cross fertilisation of work between KBR departments and developing a OneKBR approach to execute projects.

  • Must be able to plan resources efficiently across multiple projects.

  • Abide by the KBR Code of Business Conduct and business ethics.

  • Experience in assessing flow assurance issues including slugging, hydrates, wax, erosion, corrosion etc. by use of simulation software and providing the best mitigation solutions;

  • Demonstrate excellent technical report writing and presentation skills;

  • An ability to work in a collaborative way as part of a multi-discipline project group with minimum supervision;

  • Extensive and thorough understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.

  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, codes and standards.

  • Excellent computer skills, as well as excellent oral/written presentation / report writing skills.

  • Ability to work well independently and in a team.

  • Proven ability to plan and execute studies.

  • Ability and experience of presenting to clients.

  • Operational experience would be a benefit but not essential.

  • Flexible and willing to work extra hours as necessary to accommodate workload peaks.

  • Hybrid working although 3 days a week in Leatherhead office is preferred to enable efficient management of resources; and

  • Fluent English is a must, additional languages are a plus.
