IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST I

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities in any combination of which MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray are the primary modality. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Multi-modality Technologist I must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multi-modality Technologist I will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• One (1) Year Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred

• Bachelor's Degree

• Some Experience in the Computed Tomography

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS

Required:

• Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT),-

• American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS),-

• American Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT),-

• Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or-

• American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

• Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.

• Registry in second modality must be completed within 18 months of hire or transfer date.

• American Heart Association BLS.

IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST II

JOB SUMMARY:

The Multimodality Technologist II provides quality imaging and patient care within three (3) medical imaging modalities in any combination of MRI, CT, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasonography, and X-ray. Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider. The procedures are performed under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.The Multimodality Technologist II must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are competent in the procedure being performed. In addition, the Multimodality Technologist II will be able to provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The Multimodality Technologist II will meet all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and will work 50% in the primary modality and a minimum of 25% of the time in the second and third modalities. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED

• American Heart Association BLS

• Three (3) year experience in the primary imaging modality

• One (1) year experience in the secondary imaging modality

Required:
