Job Summary: The groomer is responsible for ensuring that a high-quality snow surface is achieved for our guests.

*Job Requirements: *

• A groomer must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or a G.E.D. Although not required, snow grooming or heavy equipment experience is a plus, as well as knowing how to ski or snowboard.
• Each groomer must be able to follow the exact instructions from the supervisor. Good communication skills are required and will make the workplace more enjoyable and less open to mishaps.
• Groomers must be drug and alcohol-free.
• Each groomer is responsible for taking care of the equipment used.
• Proper care, such as cleaning, will be required to keep the quality of the snow cats intact.
• Each groomer is also responsible for filling out daily logs and grooming reports before and after each shift.
• Groomers must strive to improve their ability in grooming throughout the season.

Duties Include:

• The machine's operation must be checked before a groomer goes out on the mountain. Some requirements include checking the machinery's oil, coolant, and pump drive.
• Groomers will use the tiller on the machinery to preserve snow quality and a superior surface.
• While operating a snowcat, a groomer must always be alert to its surrounding objects. This includes water air hydrants, trees, lift terminals and towers, and employees or customers on the hill.
• Weather conditions and everyday operations can take a toll on snow cats, making them malfunction. Mechanical and problem-solving skills will be needed to fix the faults in the machinery.

Working Conditions: Grooming is scheduled only during the closed hours of the ski area, 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., so groomers must be willing to work graveyards. Even though most of the time the groomer is inside the cab of the cat, there is still the need to work outside. The appropriate clothing for various winter types of weather, including good boots and gloves, is necessary. Terry Peak provides uniforms that must be worn when on duty. Understand that helping in other departments when needed may be necessary. Adhere to company Policies as described in the Employee Handbook. *Employee smoking or vaping is allowed only in designated areas only. *Smoking or vaping is NOT allowed in the Snowcat at any time.
